@captain obvious dowry is a huge problem that we still deal with. the problem is for hundreds of years all of our parents and grandparents were conditioned to think that men are more valuable than women. and for a certain period women (wife, and daughters) were thought to be a man's property. so when they give their daughter to a man, they were made to think that the man is doing them a favor by marrying her. so as a gesture of gratitude, the fathers had to give dowry. even the men's families thought that they are entitled to ask for any amount or any object since they are doing a favor here. moreover, we were also conditioned to think that women should cook, clean, handle the household and have kids while husband should earn money for everyone. it's a pressure that people have been creating on every one of us from a really early age. this is all because of patriarchy. this patriarchal mindset tells men that they cannot cry or show that they are sad or upset and tells women that they cannot think logically because they show their emotions. this patriarchy makes men think that whatever happens, they HAVE to earn. and makes women think that they HAVE to adjust and listen to what their father or husband says, that they don't have to earn anything because their husband is earning. and there are even cases where the women want to do job and earn money or achieve something but they are told that they don't need to step out of the house for earning because their husbands earn enough. because of all these conditions, the society is still going like it was a decade or two decades ago.

And Vidyut saying he opens door for women n all is his personal preference which I feel isn't important at all. And I commented on that too even other women there said they'll like it but then it's not important at all because we believe in equality. Also, talking of showing a respectful gesture towards women n teaching that to his nephew isn't hypocrisy it's his way of showing respect which he taught to his nephew too as he's chivalrous.
