Dancing is an activity period in Vietnam and the uniform the girls are wearing is called Ao Dai, the traditional dress. It’s only worn once a week but can vary from school to school.

@@kaylinnguyen8462 That's true. In the South, especially Saigon, some schools require girls to wear Ao Dai all week, some schools only wear it on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the rest of the days they wear their own school uniforms, or simple white shirt and blue/black pants. However, due to specific weather and regional conditions, each province has different regulations. But still encourage you to wear Ao Dai as much as possible, because it is very beautiful. White Ao Dai is the "first love" of most Vietnamese boys who attended high school.

Some school in Vietnam has a snack house, or lunch house where a family of student relatives make the lunch and snacks for breaks, you sometime get free breakfast such as pho and noodles of all kind. I used to live in one of the houses and sometimes students volunteer to work there for money but also to get to school early. The people there give you your own room and you can live rent free but you also have to do some of the chores and cook. I was raised there 6 years so I had unlimited chips and sausages at home. Some students actually stay to work there because the some of the snack houses people treat them like family. They do go back and hang out with their real families in the summer by choice too! Vietnam is a very nice place.

Actually this uniform is commonly wore in the south of Vietnam but in the North, we often wear just a simply beautiful white shirt with the logo of our school and a pant wearing depending on our styles. Simple, pretty and safe enough for students.

One Question Why male ao dai style uniforms not there for boy students? Why only girls have ao dai uniform? Ao dai was unisex garment style right?
@nguyennguyenthao6990
@nguyennguyenthao6990 Жыл бұрын
@@chatgpt4135 yes IT IS UNISEX :333, actually not only you but me also have that question, even I live in the north but I still feel so unequal for girls and boys in the south. Many schools have explained that it is expensive for boys to buy but WHAT ABOUT GIRLS ? And they still have the prejudice that ao dai makes women more beautiful, show whole fully their bodies but not boys, that s NOT TRUE, that s the very stereotype one. They want to preserve national identity but when we talk about why not boy, they explain so nonsense. Boys will feel hot, inconvenient when do PE THEN how about girls?? We all love AO DAI OFC, boys - they want to wear them too omg. Maybe the schools can tell students to wear on special occassions then PE for example let em freely choose their styles. Nowadays not every schools have to wear it, but still have so they still fight for that. However, it is a hot potato, many schools still work on it, so yeah hopefully this will be sovled out.

@@nguyennguyenthao6990 Oo, idk abt how vietnamese thinking But in India also, In many schools girls only have cultural uniforms while boys have shirt and pant with big pockets India was male dominant nation, n men used to step out of house, travel arnd world and hence adapted to new, new clothing styles that made there free movements easier, like pocketed pants are more convinient But , girls n women were meant to be at home, carry heavy dresses, veils and gold jewlery, not question back their guardians and used to be married off at little ages of puberty or even before puberty to strangers even to older men by their parents, and their only job for girls was carrying traditions by sitting in kitchen, cleaning and giving heir to husband's fam Traditionally girls education was taboo and in rural areas still it is, so a girl going to get education or eaening money is seen as opposite of traditional gender roles, which can't tolerate women freely running, hopping,dancing, singing, earning livelihood, going to office, or not carrying burden of jewelry and heavy garments or veils So, even if now girls school and co ed schools started, they started treating girl edu as a 'Trend' of modern times , but not to let her free and stand on her feet, but to make her attractive in marriage market Hence , even if she is allowed to go school she is perceived a 'Virtuous woman' only if she wear cultural dresses, jewellery, doesn't use her education to make decisions, don't make friends on her own and is not allowed to choose a life partner of own choice too Hence, only girls uniforms are cultural in India too, maybe reason lies in gender roles inequality I guess this is similar to what happen in south vietnam
@nguyennguyenthao6990
@nguyennguyenthao6990 Жыл бұрын
@@chatgpt4135 no- actually no, our society is not negative like yours, girls and boys are completely equal, however, the traditional dress used to wear by girls more and boys only wore when they achieved something ( like winning a national test for example)- that is the tradition. In Vietnam now, only some schools in both north and south they require girls to wear when special events, but not whole the weeks ( pretty minor). I guess India and Vietnam is far different from each other, we are the second friendliest country in the world and pretty safe and equal for women, but contrast to India, just have a look at the international rates. Vietnam isn't strict with women anymore compared to FEUDAL era. You can see in our history, women did so many big things, joined into the fighting against enemies ( US, China, etc ) like Võ Thị Sáu, etc. So yeah just by the uniform, it is a little bit hard to say ( IT DEPENDS ON THE SCHOOLS TBH, THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T FORCE LMAO WE ARE COMMUNIST ) but don't misunderstand our lovely country ( I am a girl btw ). Welcome you to outr country!!
@chatgpt4135
@chatgpt4135 Жыл бұрын
@@nguyennguyenthao6990 Okay 😅 I am not misunderstanding ur whole country sister I was only saying abt uniform thing, i will like to travel there Btw this is true that violences against women , kids and teenage couples are currently more in India, but India was not an officially religious country Then too violences happen with women and young couples bcos ppl still believe in feudal era culture or rules lol and the society is too much group-oriented meaning standing out different is difficult , so religious pressures of women to wear heavy jewelry, get married early, arranged marriage only and romantic relationships being punished, widows forced to make head bald, etc was common until early 20th century But recently in late 20th century to now 21st century due to economic growth new modern trends like more women going at workplace, women in sports, Love marriages and advent of Dating and dating apps, support of liberal ppl to love couples, introduction of feminism , lgbtqia, etc ideas came into youth of society at a much faster rate due to internet and globalisation that society couldn't get time to adapt their mindsets to modern gender equality concepts so many orthodox ppl couldn't tolerate that women try to have high goals and degrees like men, ppl choose their own spouse irrespective of caste or religion, ppl hugging in public, women going to office, pubs and bars without male guardians, late marriages, normalising periods and many more And that's when misogynistic ppl commit crimes to show dominance on women , mainly rapes are common in north One more rsn is that law system is not strong enough to punish culprits But don't worry not every place is dangerous , u can travel in Mumbai city, south and northeast India freely, U can even wear shorts there , but in north India somewhat conservative dresses are expected India is always internally at ideology wars i.e. liberal vs orthodox Btw i am also girl😇

Most students don't like it because they have to dance at recess (correct translation would be playtime), the time when they get to rest after class. It's called playtime, not dancetime. Especially in the summer, it's uncomfortable for girls because they have to wear ao dai. But they're lucky to be surrounded by trees. My school yard is very empty and has few trees. In the summer, being forced to dance while your back is burned by the sun is torture
