Fantastic documentary video on day 1 of your motorcycle journey Gabi…you show it like it really is, with the motorcycle problems, pouring rain and flooded roads, even the shocking roasted dog…literally taking the viewer with you along for the ride! Get a big tough plastic bag which fits the full backpack in it then put it upside down and tie it at the bottom and your backpack that way your bag will be dry .

Gabi, you need “dry Bag” for your trips. Waterproof bags. When I go SE Asia., I bring proper foul weather gear. True waterproof pants and jacket, even swim googles for driving in heave rain. Makes it much easier. Just a suggestion.

You're definitely brave to drive in Vietnam at all! Also eating dogs is wrong in my opinion but then we have to say eating any animal is wrong. Ah well...but bacon tastes so good!

Be careful where you park and make sure it's secure parking, because in vn your bike can be robbed easily. Don't leave your expensive items laptop and your phone etc away from you, the thieves snatch the mobile etc so be vigilant and ride safely

Within 1 week of my getting my first rental scooter in VN back in 2003, I stop wearing shoes due to the heavy flash rain if not deluge and the water puddles. When in VN, do as Vietnamese do and wear plastic/rubber sandals. Wet tennis shoes and wet socks are a pain.

For the first 4 days in ho chi min I just gave my passport. After that, I decide to start the roadtrip, so I took my passport back and gave Patrick 600 usd deposit (via PayPal/credit card)

Eating dog meat in Viet Nam nowadays is not as much as it used to. It has been slowly disappearing, especially in big cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Ming City where "Thú cưng" [LovedPets] stores are everywhere.

FYI be careful if you decide to drive your motorbike to Mui Ne. Before the Pandemic the police set up road blocks everyday and any foreigner without Vietnam drivers license is told they will go to jail if you don't get them a huge bribe. It was a major scam that has been going on there for many years but not sure if it's like that in Mui ne after Pandemic.

Hi Gabi am now in Bangkok And I intend to travel to the islands for a couple of weeks so kindly suggest to me Where can I leave my luggage in Bangkok (as i have heavy luggage) and the hotel where I stay in can keep e the luggage for a couple of days only So what is the solution in yr opinion (cheap solution) Thank u for yr help

You can rent the POST OFFICE STORAGE. Just go to any Thailand post office and rent the big box.

nice one gabi.i hope you get better weather.thats the thing with the rain on a bike you could be stuck in the middle of nowhere and youd have to sleepy under a bush lol. its also the first time i have heard you curse lol for good reason i think its just sick that they cook dogs.i suppose they dont care much for animals in vietnam.

I think when vlogging, challenges are what people relate to. Things like rain, bike breaking down, etc., makes the average person understand that's life, it's not perfect, and to just roll with it. I'm surprised they ate dog that close to HCMC as I thought that was mostly relegated to northern Vietnam, specifically the more ethnic groups. I'm not one to tell Viets to pander to foreigner sensitivities on eating dogs as Westerners don't do it when eating beef (Indians worship them) and pigs (against Muslim religion). As long as the animal isn't endangered, eat them. Doesn't mean I wanna see it nor do it, though. :)
