Vietnam is the birthplace of water puppetry. This ancient art form emerged in the country’s northern rice paddies as entertainment for farmers. The shows at Hanoi's Thang Long theatre have long attracted thousands of tourists every week. However, the centuries-old art form draws little attention from locals, especially the younger generation - who prefer their entertainment in digital form.

I remember the first time I got to watch a puppet show on a school trip, it was magical. I'm sad that it's losing its popularity.

I went to see this and it was great. The only problem were arseholes holding their mobile phones up partly obscuring the performance. One couple actually livestreamed the whole thing on facebook ffs. They should ban the use of phones in the theatre.

@@thuyduongnguyen9688 Maybe due to the fact the puppeteers had hard time to adapt the era now with digitals that they can't continue any longer the show (just like what the title says).

it is true, culture should adapt through times to fit the current situation. If they stay the same for a long time, then it would be no surprise it will be gone with natural selection.
