Well I paid it because there are programmes I want to watch…. not usually on the bbc…. occasionally on bbc iplayer…. & if I don’t pay, I can’t. I don’t agree with the charge/tax/licence fee, but feel I don’t have an option, unless I watch nothing at all. I can’t see a way around it.

Dr Who, an entire episode that basically exists to affirm a trans character, Eastenders linking Brexit to the coronavirus, several examples of prominent left wing politicians advising on shows, The BBC's Horrible Histories telling children that black people have "been here from the start" despite this being false. That's the wokeness covered off the top of my head, feel free to look up more.

Horrible Histories is the only one that stood out for having a grave issue strongly related to diversity overstepping its boundaries rather than plain bad writing, cast choices, or director politics. I grew up with it, that show showed the grim reality of the past in a satirical style kids would engage with, when race gets brought up there was always a factual success story to come with it (MLK Jr). It's the one show where representation comes LAST unless the stories fit the bill like gay right movements in the 80s or African history. With that said, I do have gripes with the BBC. For example, the time they rewinded the miners' strike footage to obscure police brutality, and they excused their actions by claiming everyone else was doing it two decades later. The BBC also has a problem with political surrogates, in which they'd selectively pick special guests to talk about political issues that follow their agenda without violating neutral coverage guidelines, and it happens too often. The BBC is also a government mouthpiece at times, intentionally fearmongering to get a jab by over-reporting with negative emotional connotations, and being censored by Parliament to not criticise certain issues. As much as I know the BBC is problematic, it's still better than its sensationalist competition since the news still comes first (not counting my local news group). The additional resources like BBC Bitesize and nature documentaries are also important, so I don't plan on cancelling anytime soon. Edit: I remember telling my teacher about a famous black war nurse who improved hospital sanitation, and they told me they were never black. It turns out HH overshadowed Nightgale with Seacole, by overlooking Nightgale as a racist and celebrating Seacole's achievements despite having less significance. This is why I'm angry about HH, kids will recite the actors and portrayals as fact.

It's great isn't it?. Dumped the licence fee 10 years ago and purchased excellent films and shows on blu-ray and 4k. Get the same letters Ignore them. As long as you tell them politely where to stuck their licence, they can't touch me. Appeared on my property once. Sent them packing....

Exactly. Agatha Christie's books are set in Britain, in the 1930s. So, there are a many nuances of class struggle that will be lost if you produce a drama about race. Of course the woke don't care about class oppression. I enjoyed the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency, set in Africa with an African actress in the lead. If there have to be more POC on the BBC then set up a few writing competitions and build that genre with new talent and new material.

I used to watch Mastermind, University Challenge and Question Time but switched off because it was WOKE I found myself shouting at the TV. That is not right. When I listened to BBC Radio Scotland, I had to switch off because it was so biased. I discovered that watching the BBC was bad for my mental health and made me angry so for health reasons I had to stop watching and listening.

So far I've only had one visit when I had them standing on the doorstep for over an hour. I get taxed on my army pension so I suppose they'll take it out of that. Well the reason is, although the money goes to fund the BBC, the licence is called a Broadcast Receiving Licence... which means ANY broadcast from anywhere, not just the BBC. It needs to be scrapped NOW. I gave mine up in October 2020 and haven't missed watching live TV at all.
