Kriega is a well trusted name in the world of soft motorcycle luggage and the US Drypack is probably its most popular range. As the US suggests it's a universal system that can be fitted to almost every bike. Not only that it can be fitted to itself for almost endless luggage carrying combinations.
In this video, I take a look at the entire US-Drypack range including the brand new US40 Rackpack. I've roadtested them too, so I can offer a view of how they perform.
To see the entire Kriega collection head to kriega.com/mybike

I have the US30, use it for weekends away when I don't need all the room of panniers, an outstanding bit of kit and so well made, you do get what you pay for. Great video. My US20 has served me faithfully over the years and the Max 28 that I use almost a year now is nothing short of brilliant both on and off the bike. Naturally when I receive my gen 3 Hayabusa in a few weeks the first thing I'll put on that fat rear seat will be a US40. With the US20 either as tank bag or on top of the US40, there will be 60 liters of waterproof luggage, that leaves no marks or racks and easy to pop off - all this on a sportbike.

Thanks for the info on the new 40. I’ve been considering it but couldn’t find much on it. I have the tank bag adapter fitted but it does have a weak point. The adhesive Velcro that’s fitted under the seat has worn out and it didn’t last long at all. I’d recommend replacing the adhesive backed side with stronger ones if you’re going to use it.

Good review, well done. Great kit. I ride an older machine (1980's Moto Guzzi) and the flexibility of attachments means the gear can be fitted in a variety of ways, depending on what you're carrying, whether there's a pillion, whatever. Expensive? Maybe, but I don't expect - ever - to be replacing this stuff, so "a life-time purchase" in my eyes. Even if the bike changes! I've got the tank bag adapter, too: a couple of things to offer there: one, on my older style frame, there is no location to attach velcro too, but - when I purchased - there was the alternative to fit straps to the frame tube at the rear. Pop a couple of those plastic buckles open and, as you say, easy access to the filler cap. The other observation I have is that - in my personal experience - the tank bag set-up doesn't really suit a heavier load. But then there are generally other reasons for not whacking a heavy lump on your tank, right? Love my @Kriega gear. Absolutely doesn't disappoint.

Thanks V, excellent review series and very informative. I recently bought 1250GSA and searching for overlander/dry pack for the bike. I decided to install BMW original small top case (installed already) but decided to install soft panniers instead of hard series. Living in Turkey and don’t have much of alternatives in the market and I’m in between Kriega and LoneRider. In my opinion Kriega here in the market decades and offering 10 years of warranty is point of proof the quality of product and company vision where Lonerider new in the market (guessing since 2017). My plan to install 2x32 liter on the side and one Drypack for passenger seat additionally will attach smaller size on both. How is your experience for GSA? Is Drypack can easily mountable as well? Thanks.
@mancavemoto

Hi, I have the US20 dry pack and love it. I made the straps work on my 2023 R1250GS, but I see that there is a FitKit available. Will that kit improve how the bag sits on the bike, or is it not necessary? Looks like the bag would move further back on the bike (on the rack vs passenger seat?). Do you recommend that kit, or is it a waste? Thanks for your help!
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto 7 ай бұрын
The fit kit looks to be essentailly a set of the OS loops. They make fitting the bags a lot more quick and easy, but they will mean the bag sits on the rack. For the price of the fitkit i would say its worth having them on the bike all the time anyway?

Nice.. You prefer using the os-32 with racks or the os-12 with the os base and the US 30 on the rear? Similar capacity but different configuration.. Racks add weight and width but all the luggage is lower..
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto 2 жыл бұрын
I like that the OS base keeps everything nice and compact. I've only got OS6 packs at the moment, but when the OS18 are back in stock, i'll probably run with those and the US30 on the rear and see how I get on. I think it'll be a case of switching between the two depending on what I need?
@mediocreman561
@mediocreman561 2 жыл бұрын
I've used these bags. Great setup. BUT what everyone is not saying anything about this modular system is that when using three bag combinations they all have to come off the bike for Moto-Camp. I have a 30 liter, 2 20 liter, and 2 10 liter bags. If I use the 30 liter and the two 20 liter combo I cannot keep the two 20 liter bags on the bike because they both hook up to the 30 liter. And that makes a huge disappointing disadvantage to the conventional side panniers because the 30, or 40 liter bags connect and keep everything together. If they come off the bike, then the two 20 liter HAVE to come off and create a huge clutter for the whole camp trip. But as a single tail bag system they are great.
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto 2 жыл бұрын
Can you not strap the two 20 litre bags on top of each other on the bike? The hooking system is the same for all the bags, so you should be able to remove the 30 litre bag and replace it with the 20? But I get what your saying, it is different to using a hard luggage system

This is NOT to bash your video. I have every single thing Kriega makes. The list: US20 x 2 US30 US40 R25 Backpack R30 Backpack US10 x 2 Tank pad Wallet Laptop case After dealing with the tie down arrangements that Kriega uses I became very frustrated with their design. Everything attaches to the front of the bags so if you add/subtract from the bags, you are constantly adjusting straps for size and hopefully not damaging what you have inside to secure them. The convoluted aluminum "S" buckles are not reliable unless a lot of tension is used. THIS got old very quickly! I did some research and found SW-Motec gear. I now own everything they make and it is superior to Kriega in everything. Their attachment system is flawless and attaches from the rear to the bike. Now I can add/subtract with zero adjustments to straps. Their attachment strap system is shear genius. They have cinch buckles on all their bags and it take seconds to attach/remove their bags. Right now I have a pile of brand new Kriega stuff in a box that I will never use. Money wasted.
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto 2 жыл бұрын
No problem. Being a universal system there obviously needs to be some element of adjustment so that the packs can go across many different bie models. I've found the S buckles to be reliable fixings and yes the need to be tight, but you don't need huge amounts of tension. I've reviewed a used a quite a few SW-Motech pieces and I agree that they are very well designed. What packs are you using, as im pretty sure all the SW-Motech kit needs specfific fittings for each bike, or some form of side carrier? The Kriega straps all have cinch fixings too, so its just a case of hooking on and pulling tight.
@ttrguy9952

@@mancavemoto I have 2 of the Rackpack 36-45L Evo tail bags, the Pro City tank bag ring mounted (no tank contact!) and 2 Drybag 80's that attach to my upper crash bars on my 2020 Triumph Tiger 1200 XCX. I also have the Ion L Tail bag for multiple other bikes. The strapping system SW-Motech uses is genius. The cinch buckles are on the bags themselves and low on the bags. This means, attach bags, use bags with no further adjustment. I found a source for the metal 3/4 inch cinch buckles and I am having them sewn onto all my Kriega bags down low and cut all the Kriega mountings off the bags. I am having her make me all the cinch straps with loops. Now I will be able to use all the Kriega stuff I bought. Cheers!

I found the 20 to be the most useable between the two, plus with the 40 it seems to make more sense

I would avoid at all cost: I invested in a full kriega OS system. After the second ride day, one of the bags spontaneously ripped at the seam. I sent a picture to Kriega, and received a short response that “I must have dragged it over rocks” and warranty didn’t apply. I responded with more pictures, showing that the rip is at a top corner (I.e., outside the area that would get damaged in a fall), and showing that there were no scratches on the bag. Kriega responded thag all they could offer was a 50% discount. I am appalled at such poor customer service and such arrogance, as they seemingly lack all capacity to critically look at the quality of their products. I can only conclude that Kriega is overpriced, overmarketed garbage and they don’t care about their customers whatsoever. Avoid this company at all cost. Spend your money at a company who cares (and makes products that last longer than a few rides).

Kriega have built a good reputation for their products and customer service, so I’m surprised. Especially given how tough the OS bags are. Offering 50% discount on a replacement that’s not covered under warranty sounds quite generous.

@@mancavemoto when something is obviously a faulty product, and should be covered under warranty, 50% off is not generous at all. Can’t testify to the “toughness” of their products. I’ve had lomo panniers that cost a fraction of the kriega ones and lasted for years. Their customer service is appalling - look up their trustpilot reviews, on which they score 2.5/5.

I've always found them to be a trustworthy brand, and would honour the warranty if it was a maunfacturing or production fault. Its a shame you cant post images in the comments for you to show us

@@mancavemotohappy to supply photos any way you wish. The fact that they don’t even invite me to send the bag to them tells me all I need to know.

Just got back from a few days in the Ardennes where my kit got rather wet! Looking to invest in probably a US-20 & a US-10 for future trips and your review was spot on, so that's confirmed my choice! Love your content, thank you!!

Great review, would the 30 fit ok on the back of a Bonneville T120? Cheers
