There's no new mechanics, all the extra characters are only different colors over Joe's body.

@@danielorozco3753 Dante could shoot and use sword(the sword combo ender knocked enemies away different), Silvia has better running speed and different combo ( as I remember), Alastor' s transformation mechanic works totally different from everyone+ he can glide and has a different combo ender, captain blue gets super jump and glide.

@@bweeptabop3944 alastor's combo ender is so op. Utilizing his kick combos and finishing with a punch or alternating quickly between punches and kicks (while starting with a kick) will let his combo ender come out quicker.

This game is a forgotten gem and should be considered within the DMC continuity even if Dante is just a guest character, I mean they literally made his gameplay a pseudo-sequel to the first DMC.

They had already made a pseudosequel out of the gameplay of Dante as a guest character, back then this game was kinda underrated, even thou it even got an animation series.

You mean how they put a character who was at the time only on Sony consoles in the Sony version? Like Link in Soul Calibur 2. There was no chance he was showing up in the others. Dante was a Playstation exclusive character until DMC4.

Gamecube still has Gotcha force though, it's not even part of the "capcom five" despite being an exclusive Capcom game and that makes no sense.

They also put more exclusive content in RE4 for PS2, the only one who didn't get the shaft was Killer7 which the PS2 version of that game was downgraded and wasn't developed by Grasshopper Manufacture

There were other characters too. I think Alestor (Dante's sword?!) is also a character that is playable on the PS2 version.

@@ennohex GameCube characters are Joe, Silvia, Alastor and Blue. On PS2 same list plus Dante.

@@ennohex Yes. I know the game well. For PS2 they had to add new content so they tossed in one new character. The rest are the same as GameCube. But PS2 also has an unlock everything cheat code so anybody on PS2 that can't beat the harder modes could just use the code. GameCube has no code so you need to beat it legit or use cheats a GameShark or something. I play this on GameCube so no PS2 stuff for me.

@@cartergamegeek I just unlocked them normally. The idea was to play as everyone anyway. I wonder if they could use a cheat code to play as Trish. That should be possible actually.

Dante and Trish are using reversed voice clips from Devil May Cry 1. They couldn't get their VAs to record new lines, so they have to improvise.

Seeing as dmc1, 2 and 3 are in the switch it would be pointless to not have Dante in the switch version as well

All the alt stories just play the main story audio backwards. They never recorded extra lines they just played the ones they did record backwards and call it a day.

They didn't want go through and record new lines for all the extra characters, so they just reversed dialogue.

@@ImALombax It's select lines from Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe reversed (when played in reverse, the dialogue is basically a jumble of the lines used).

@@ennohex I knew he existed, in that I was aware of the Playstation version having him available. But I grew up with the Gamecube version so... man-bikini Dante was not there to make me question my teenage inner feelings.
