Vijay Prashad, director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research at the Meeting for a World Social Alternative in Caracas, Venezuela pointed out the dangers of Hyper-Imperialism and how the United States and its allies constitute the only terrorist group in the world. He also called upon the people to strengthen the movement to build a socialist alternative.

Comrade Vijay isn't just an academic but a powerful moving speaker. Everyone needs to hear this . I appreciate that he speaks about Rishi Sunak and Joe Biden as imperialist but as ordinary uninspiring forgettable leaders that have no connection with the people. The West can't produce great leaders. This is a decadent imperialism. 300 families from Gaza are wiped out forever. We can't keep saying no to imperialism. But we need a project that we can say yes to.

hyper imperialism is like growing crops but never harvesting them, piling it away, letting it rot, so that it begins to spoil even as people starve, while taking more and more resources to keep planting more for still more indefinitely deferred harvest.

It occurs to me that as long as any person expects a solution to come from outside the self, that solution will replicate the capitalist character, even if it is called socialist, or alternative. The essence of socialism is the awareness -- by the individual -- of the human virtue within his or her individual self as a human being. This is an integrity that burns like a light drawing the individual ever deeper within, until the mind can stabilize in that realm of virtue, without any help. From this, true intuition comes. Only AFTER all this has happened does that person have anything to offer to the person next to him or her. And only after this spontaneously grips many people simultaneously is true socialism ignited. Then, what keeps socialism alive and effective depends entirely on each individual dedicating time to awareness of that deepest level of personal integrity at which Oneness is known beyond a doubt.

I agree and disagree with Vijay Prasad, Socialism is as bad as Democracy for a basic reason that corruption becomes endemic to either systems. He will know if he travels to Chicago or LA or NYC how people on welfare fleece the system. All the socialist countries that he mentioned how they were successful, is for everyone to see and reject it. Example: India since Independence until Modi came to power, China and their economic power has destroyed many Chinese citizens of a life, we know what predicament Russia is, and the list goes on -Nicaragua, Cuba, etc. Not rosy! On Israel, I don’t entirely agree Vijay is right because the start of the problem was Hamas’s abduction of Israeli women and children. And he doesn’t mention a word of it! But I do agree with him on how the West has destroyed economies and countries, which didn’t start in the recent past, it started at least 400+ years at least in India, they colonized were plundered not only trillions of dollars but also stole cultural and religious artifacts, which are perhaps less of a problem, but brainwashing and dividing Hindu society on the basis what they called caste system and pitted one set against another, Aryans vs. Dravidians, Dalits, etc. Consequently the seed for Hindu Muslim divide didn’t happen in the last 10 years of Modi but well before independence!
