Such a great all-round fishing kayak to recreational kayak the Profish 400 from Viking Kayaks deserves some time to find out what it is all about - in this review I try to do justice to the clever design of this kayak by sharing my experience with it and how it fits in my lifestyle. Hope you enjoy

Awesome Yaks. Have had my 400 for around 5 years now and can't fault it in any way. Had a 6 hour session this morning chasing bass and no issues comfort wise.

welcome - they poss should come with a guide for each kayak explaining what each feature is actually for as many retailers forget to point this out

Another great review! Wish I had a 400 for some of the rivers around here or even just as a partner yak. My Reload is the ultimate platform for bigger water but I can see how the 400 would be excellent in rivers for maneuverability.

as soon as one hits the country - I don't even think the mold is finished in NZ yet so right now I have no idea...the little I know about the design i cannot wait to try it next to the old one as it look like a winner

Thanks for the great review again. How would you compare this one to the reload for speed and long distances and surf in downwind please?

sorry missed this question - def being longer and a very different bow the Reload is better all round for those 3 scenarios - higher top cruising speed, easier to hold that speed to get on those downwind swells and keep the nose from diving with the bow flares

Jason, I'm 73 and would be opting for the E version with a spare battery pack on board. Would I need the drouge or the anchor with this version?

sorry I missed this - I would say yes always carry an anchor option if you want to conserve battery

I have the GT but find it limited in how far I can travel. How much easier would the 400 be to paddle? Thanks

Mal Drury oh man they are polar opposites ! 400 glides through where the bow on the GT barges through, I love my GT for its stability but I only use it when planning trips that I paddle very little and sight cast standing...In the profish 400 from memory I had a cruising speed of around 5.5-6km hr at roughly 60% effort - to get that in the GT your talking 80%+ effort. See if you can take one for a paddle, you wont be disappointed

I believe yes you will fit - weight wise no issues - can you not get to see one and sit in it? its poss you may just remove the foot rests and have your feet on the end of the foot well but can be certain
