Strongmen competing in the Steintossen 'Throwing Stone' challenge using a Viking mill stone (steen) known as the Rendrag Stone, found on the Channel Islands many years ago. The stone weighs 16.5kg or about 36 lbs and measures 11" long by 9" wide and 7" deep.
Competitors have three tries to throw the stone as far as possible, using any style they wish, apart from a spin. This was one of the challenges during the Donald Dinnie day Games, the Gathering III at Potarch Bridge in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on Sunday 4th August 2019.
The competitors were Neil Elliott (Scotland- winner), Mark Haydock (England), Lewis McLuckie (Scotland), Jamie Gorrian (Scotland), Dean Kent (England), Andrew (Andy) Cairney (Scotland), Mark Haydock (England) and finally Sean Peatfield (Scotland). The stone was provided by head referee Steve Gardner.
