Common, she's absolutely FABULOUS, guys. True, she's probably most electrifying in certain pieces--particular composers. Thank God. I don't like lethargy, don't like a violinist to be "careful."

Lets face it.....what violinist worth their salt hasn't recorded this Mendelssohn violin concerto? And the moment you do.....you're compared to everyone who has recorded it since the ability to record has existed. What is classical music in 2013? Newly arrived artists doing covers of music that has existed for 1,2,3 and 4 centuries. Having said that, Frang's recording is honest, strong, to the point and shows a wonderful musical talent and technique for someone so young. Bravo Vilde!!!

The line of the wall-corner looks like a string descending to her from the heaven. Obviously, the camera man had some intention to place it in the center of her head. And the line also reaches the head of the scroll of her violin in the background. The wall's holizontal line draws perspective with bow and is placed at the best place on the level of under-scrall and her chest, crossing the vetical lline. This, with a pretty young lady, gives the stark wall-canvan a stability, space and purity.

Beautiful. Not just the music, but she as well. But this concerto belongs to Nadja Salerno Sonnenberg. I keep listening to other violinists to see how they compare, but Nadja is just unbelievable with this piece.

+TheHawkeye757 No, she's a dropout - after middle school. That's why she could get to be extraordinary good. Schools are the last of places to learn excellence - of anything.

Surprising that she wasn't picked up by Julliard or Curtis institute. she probably didn't want to leave norway. I think she would have developed much faster if in NY. and she would had full scholarship as well

Jin Cha She lived most of her adult life in Germany so that can not be it. Why do you believe she could have developed faster and why do you believe this would be a preferable path?

About the mountains or the stars, for sure; we essentially know nothing. And maybe also for Mendelssohn.

Probably i prefer Hilary Hahn playing this but still Vilde is a great violinist and it's a real pleasure to listen to her interpretations. Her new album with Mozart concertos is just brilliant and hope she will keep this high level. Hope to hear Vilde live :-)
@Ant767712 жыл бұрын
Is she using the old technique of tuning higher than the orchestra? She is sharp, especially in the beginning. I don't think she plays this as well as some other pieces I've heard from her. Especially because the Mendelssohn has been such a staple concerto in the 20th century, recording it is really an invitation to comparison with the great masters. Unfortunately, I do not think she's saying anything very "new" in this recording, which is dangerous. I commend her, though. Brava.

She seems to project a rather frenetic high-strung style of playing which is not my cup of tea......
@Pyfacefornever10 жыл бұрын
I felt that too, it was absolutely brilliant, on-point playing, but I felt like it was half passion, half panic some of the time... just a sense of anxiousness/urgency that was a bit out of place. But she is definitely someone to watch, I think - her precision was fantastic and she was slow and expressive when the music asked for it.

Heard Anne-Sophie Mutter here in Seattle a couple years ago. What a nightmare. Forget about intonation, interpretation, didn't even get the notes right half the time. What's going on in her head? She has a pretty dress, so she won't bother to practice? Charged us a pretty penny.

Vilde Frang played on a tour through Europe and the United States With Anne -Sophie Mutter, performing Bach's concerto for for two violins. Mutter is apparently an inspiration to Vilde. They have trained together.
@leoniemikele610 жыл бұрын
john contesse it was an off night, obviously. but it was too far off. either that, or…a musician doesn't have license to get intonation way off track because she's experimenting without vibrato, does he/she? experimentation with the music? I don't honestly know. you weren't there, so you don't get to vote on this one! :)

+Masht Ali The audio quality could definitely be better, compared to other versions of this work. As for +Masht Ali, I speculate that you haven't heard this performed too often and that among those times you have been lucky. Unless I am wrong, of course, and in spite of your 10 years (which isn't that much really mind you) you are unable to distinguish quality of audio and quality of craft, your 10 years aren't worth shit. Then again, you could be 12 years old for all we know.
