Today we are in Stone Harbor New Jersey outside what used to be the old Villa Maria by the Sea retreat house.
Here used to be a 250-bed retreat house built during the depression. It was called Villa Maria by the Sea and was ran by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The property was massive covering 4.5 acres of land right on the water front. Having to deal with the same issues of other retreat houses they came up with a plan to still have a retreat house but also build up some capital to provide for it for many years to come.
Their idea was to knock down the retreat house that took up two blocks, Turn half into a 13-lot residential subdivision and build a new modern retreat house in the corner.
After 6 months of construction the building is is almost completed. We decided to stop by and give you another tour.
