Energy drinks are like Red Bull, Milo and Lipovitan . TANG is just a regular drink w/ salt , high in Vitamin C, but also High in sugar. Tang is similar to Hi-C, powder Lemonade, and Kool Aid.

Would like to point out that it might vary location to location - and even if it's not necessarily as popular in _America_ aka the United States... doesn't mean it can't be popular somewhere else? There's life outside of the US, and energy drinks, too ;)

Now that's interesting, what Aman said about adding salt to lemonade. Salt, sugar and water is a rehydrating solution for dangerous dehydration, like someone could get from an illness with diarrhea. So we have energy drinks, India's been making it all along. 😀 I remember when Tang first came out. Bet it's just as good now!

Well ... don't know if I'd call tang an "energy drink," **per se.** That term has a fairly specific meaning in the USA. Typically it's a highly-caffeinated drink, that typically also has a lot of sugar, and maybe certain vitamins or herbs thought to boost energy and alertness. [Things like "Rock Star" or "Monster" energy drinks.] Tang is more of a mixed fruit-flavored drink [typically orange-flavored, though they may have other flavors now like mango or strawberry lemonade, etc.?] that doesn't generally have caffeine in it, it's basically just sugary. So, more of just a "powdered fruit juice" (one mixed the powder into water and it makes "juice") or flavored sugar water. As also distinguished from "sports drinks" which tend to be non-caffeinated, but have sugar and electrolytes [minerals and salt], which are for re-hydration after sweating a lot while playing sports or exerting oneself at work doing manual labor, etc.
@NailHeavenAshford

94% sugar in Tang. The rest is junk mixed in with a tiny amount of vitamin and minerals and 0.8% fruit powder.

@willcool713
@willcool713 Жыл бұрын
@@bjdefilippo447 Well, yeah, the Space Race was a really big deal, and having been onboard the Apollo missions was a definite selling point that marketers exploited heavily. I don't actually think anyone would have heard of Tang otherwise, or wouldn't have paid much attention. I don't know if it made it to the Shuttle, but Tang was definitely on Apollo. There were space-pen brands, like BIC, ballpoints that were guaranteed to write upside down and even in Space! (pressurized ink cartridges), which had also been on the Apollo flights (although they also carried pencils). I believe duct tape, Teflon, and Velcro also garnered their fame from space missions, though Teflon definitely came from the Shuttle, not Apollo. But marketing had to be based in documented facts, back then, or lawsuits could put brands and marketing firms into full receivership.

Orange Tang is 94% sugar and 0.8% of orange fruit power. The rest is made up of anti caking agent, food colour, sweetener, stabiliser, acidity regulator and some vitamins and minerals. I’d rather not thank you. I’m sure people love it and that’s fine if they are happy consuming it, but it’s not something I’d have in my house. Sucralose and things like that don't matter in their diet to them? I just cringe when I see people unknowingly putting a chemical in their body that coagulates their blood and eventually their organs. It's too bad they can't read English to see what the ingredients are. I don't mean to be a downer, but most of the products Americans consume, are laced with terrible ingredients that do alot of harm to the body. Sucralose, aspartame, anything "low cal" is bad. In fact, aspartame is the fecal matter of bacteria. How do you like your tea??? 😁😁😁😁 I can't stand the aftertaste of something with that in it, but just the thought of WHAT IT IS,....yuck. 😁
