*I love when they see animated films and realize it's not just for children! Being brave or courageous isn't planned; it happens suddenly, when you are called upon to do something you are scared of doing, but doing it because others need you right then. THAT is when bravery arises.*

Each time I watch the scene of Mufasa's death I get so sad, but my heart completely breaks for Simba when Scar tells him "The King is dead, and if it weren't for you, he'd still be alive. What would your Mother think?" It's such a messed up thing to say to someone, let alone a kid.

For me, it's not even Mufasa's death that's the worst part. It's hearing Simba call out for help, so small and alone and scared, but nobody comes. And then when he curls up next to his father's body in pure grief . . . major sobs.

This movie came out within a few months of my fathering dying. He died three days before my fourth birthday. I had no idea at the time, but this movie shaped my beliefs, this movie made me remember my father and respect his spirit. I didn’t cry at the time, but it’s impossible to watch it without being overcome with emotions for simba. I know what he’s feeling, I know what he hopes for, and I know what he fears. I have so much respect for my father and him trying to discipline me when his body didn’t have the strength to get up. He loves on in me and I often feel shameful of the life I’ve lived. I just want to make him proud.

I have never thought of The Lion King in terms of a Bollywood film, but watching these guys react to it, I am reminded of all the Bollywood films that have similar themes- the son returning to his rightful throne, a balance in nature, the epic fight scene at the end, friends to lovers, the silly but very supportive friends. And of course, the big showy music numbers! I am never going to unsee it now, lol.

I think 'The Lion King' has many traits from the William Shakespeare play of 'Hamlet'; the plot of a lowly prince attempting to exact revenge against his uncle for the murder of his father the king in order to seize the throne for himself. Hamlet is considered among the "most powerful and influential tragedies in the English language", with a story capable of "seemingly endless retelling and adaptation by others."

They are so lucky to have only viewed older Disney movies. They commented they loved Disney movies. Sorry guys. Watch a few newer ones and you will lose that feeling. We all loved the older ones too.
