It’s kinda hard thinking about the towns I’ve left behind, and how I’ll eventually leave this one behind too. This song may be one of my favorites in the game, but it definitely has a bittersweet aftertaste. Unlike Farewell, which is more like an acceptance of the fact that somebody isn’t coming back, this one feels like a desperate hope that eventually somebody will return. Every now and then, I think about these little animals waiting with unending patience for me to finally step outside of my house again, say hello to them, and complete my daily chores. They’ll never give up believing that eventually I’ll return, when in reality it’s more than likely that I never will. A bit of an edit here, as I’d like for everyone to see it all at once instead of saying it to everyone individually in the replies. By no means do you have to take this seriously - these are just some thoughts I had while playing the game. I’ve enjoyed listening to everybody’s opinions on this take; I’ve always wanted to kind of have an open discussion on the things I enjoy, and this has given me that opportunity. Thank you for that. :)

I like to think that when you delete an animal crossing village, it stays and you just leave. Then, when someone also starts a village, they just join it, and the villagers there are always happy to see someone arrive.

This reminds me of that day I went out with a bunch of “friends” a few months after my best friend died. I had a horrible day and walked home alone in the rain and dark. It was freezing cold and I felt horrible but something about the rain, the few starts I could see and the distant city sounds made me feel so calm. Like something was telling me there’s more to life than what I’ve lost. Things will get better. I just need to keep moving and relish in what little joy I get.

I often get really scared at night but don’t tell anyone and just stay up in fear of going to sleep. But after hearing this at 1:41 AM, I think I might go to sleep tonight. Thank you ❤️

man this hits hard. i worked 5 years in a upside down lifestyle.. it sucked. always missed family gatherings, lost track of days easily, felt alone cause streets would be empty and would see anyone but co workers, and they looked just as lonely and lost too.

Something about this song... It’s sad, and makes us think.. all those memories we had together playing on our consoles all night catching fish with our friends, building homes, selling fresh fruit, giving cute presents to our favourite villagers. Now, In animal crossing new horizons... everyone is treating there villagers like there nothing. The poor gorillas... the rats, and many others. Don’t treat others worse than others... it’s a terrible thing you shouldn’t do if you ever have done something like it.

In my New Leaf town, I fell in love with Diana and this was the song that was playing in her house. Sadly, I let her move away and she promised me she would come visit. But a certain bear took her place in an indecent spot and refused to move. So I resetted in anger and regretted it because I never saw her ever again. I miss you Diana.

imagine this: it’s been a year and you haven’t touched animal crossing since. your villagers are starting to wonder if you will ever come back to teach them new phrases and keep them company whilst exploring. they begin to realise that you’re not coming back and that maybe it’s time to try and find a new place to live. all 10 of them come together despite their personality differences and sing KK slider’s stale cupcakes one last time, harmonising through the night. one by one your villagers say goodbye to one another in hope of a new environment to explore and have fun in. it comes to your last villager, your favourite one. they wander through the island humming stale cupcakes, taking it all in for the last time. their last stop is your house. they place a letter inside the letter box that’s filled with memories of you from each villager. it’s finished and signed by your favourite, leaving a small note reading ‘i hope someday we see each other again, even if we’ve lost our bond, we’ll always be best friends’ with their favourite nickname for you at the end. they then leave the island just like the rest in search for somewhere new. orville tells them they’ll be safe on a small island until someone comes exploring and may bump into them along the way. now, 10 villagers on 10 different islands waiting patiently for someone new to arrive and take them home, just like their last friend did.

Literally put me in tears when Fauna started singing, I felt like a mom at a recital

In some parts it sounds like "Memory" from Cats and in other parts it sounds like the Circhester music in Pokemon SwSh

I love how despite them all bobbing to the same beat, if you watch closely each character has a slight nuance to the way they dance. Just like their designs, each villager moves uniquely 😭💕

I had this playing in my plaza one night and Sherb sang for 20 minutes straight. Then Pierce joined him and they sang it for the next THREE HOURS. I love this song, I love my villagers and when they sing, but man oh man. Three hours with no breaks to drink anything? I can't even imagine the sore throats they must have had. Plus that's a BIG workout on your diaphragm and core muscles. And lungs. Sherb could become a jock villager if he kept that up.

It’s so touching. It’s like you finished the game so you put down your console for months but your villagers never give up on you coming back. It makes you want to cry and give them all a tight hug! It’s so overwhelming for me .( I don’t even hv any of the games!) this song has the power to bring tears to your eyes and it leaves a empty hole in your stomach( much like how a stale cupcake leaves a strange and slightly bitter aftertaste in your mouth) But sometimes it can be extremely sweet! Now I wish that blue goat villager ( I forgot his name but I rlly want him!) would take my hand, pull me into the screen and give me a comforting hug that says this: “ Don’t worry. This song gets me crying, every time man Makes me feel even sadder that I never got to, and won’t get to for a long time, truly experience animal crossing. I never grew up with it, never had it, dont have new horizons or a switch, and I won’t be able to get any of those for years since I’m still stuck at home with my mom, who gives me no freedom over my own money. I’m going to tell u people a story about my first animal crossing town: I was only 7 when I got animal crossing new leaf and I didn’t know anyone or anything. But there was this mouse called Bella and she was so welcoming to me. She kept on inviting me to her house, giving me gifts. And I made myself a promise that Bella would never leave my town. One day I came out of my house and I checked my mailbox and there was a letter from Bella I opened it and she told me she moved out. I broke down in tears and I started to get depressed so I began dumping trash in my town. I got so depressed I ended up deleting my new leaf town. And when I heard this song It reminded me of Bella and my first new leaf town. To this day I have hunted for Bella in animal Crossing New horizons. And I have never stopped. I still haven’t found her and I will never stop.

This is.. kind of beautiful. The slow, calm beat of the song, and the voices of the villagers we know and love is comforting, despite it being such a sad song.. The villagers selected were great choices, as four of them have very slight variations of the same voice, while Gonzo adds a much deeper element to the harmony. Wonderful. This made my night.

In New Leaf, Julian was one of my first villagers and I would sometimes just sit in his house with his starry wallpaper and listen as this song would play for a while. Julian was very special to me and I got so many beautiful letters and words from him. He truly was one of my best friends when I was 10-13. Today in acnh he moved into my town :')

It reminds me of all the fun I had with New Leaf. I played it so much, and still did a while after NH came out. But after a while, I figured out that the reason I wasn’t playing it anymore was because it didn’t have the same effect like it once did. I will always love New Leaf and all the joy it gave me.

Since last year I had to attend different interships as part of my studies and every night and morning before my first day I would watch this video. Tonight as I'm worrying again for what's waiting for me tomorrow, I listen to them gently singing this tune. It has become a ritual of some sort
