I have pondered so much on why villain Deku is so big in the fandom. I still don’t know why, but I think it could be that some people got the idea he was destined to become a villain inedibly someday from the very start of the series. From the scenes with Bakugo bullying Izuku, and also the scene with Mountain Lady taking the spotlight from the tree hero who did most of the work defeating the giant villain to take the media credit (while smiling at the camera before turning away and looking dejected), we understand that this is not a fair society. Even the heroes are very commercially reliant. This is in many ways a parallel of our own society. I think a lot of people go through a stage of life where they realize just how messed up the world is, and all their childhood dreams of changing the world slowly fade as they come to understand that it is way more complicated than what they had envisioned. They become complacent and just try to live normal lives. Enter Izuku. This guy is extremely empathic. So much so that he risks his life to save the guy that tormented him for so many years. And he is extremely driven. He trained like crazy for 10 months. Granted he had his idol motivating him, but how many people can simply go to the gym regularly? Even before he met All Might, he planned to attempt to get into UA without a quirk. And he is looking at the world through an innocent lens. He strives to be the selfless hero that always saves people with a smile, but the issue is that doesn’t really exist. Even though All Might is an amazing human being, he is a human being who has his own flaws and makes mistakes. Midoria doesn’t seem to completely understand this. That would be fine, if learning to see his Idols as human was the only issue. This is a world that parallels our own. There is a huge inequality that we accept as normal. There are a lot of people who live in poverty despite desperately trying to find work, there is propaganda, and just so much else. Even without knowing the stuff that we learn about the safety commission later in the series at the beginning, we recognize that something sinister is likely going on behind the curtains. And he is so good that once he discovers is he won’t be able to accept it as ok. And he is so driven he would be willing to do something crazy to change it. Anyway just my thoughts. 😊

But the funny thing is that he had a seizure in his sleep which caused him to die but I also have epilepsy but I didn’t know at the time but the movies still remind me of the bad times where I actually cried.
