According to your explanation, he had previously buried his heart (away from the evil surroundings), and consequently felt numb without the organ. Together with his “neon beloved” they could undig the heart until it hurts again. Hurts = lives. Though I believe we can’t imagine there’s a “the” where VV doesn’t put it. Whichever articles he wants to be here, are here. We consider an author’s text a complete item, with nothing to add or to take from. A complete piece of art.

@@litermort Yes, the work is always complete, but when the author introduces these types of figures of speech it is because he has a goal in mind. The introduction of Ellipsis could have two reasons. One of the reasons is the rhythm and sound of the phrase. This means that the author omitted “the” to make the lyrics flow in the song. The other reason must be related to the meaning and how the introduction of a void in the sentence alludes to the emotional void felt by the author.

But in Neon Noir the dawn does really come though. A little but important victory! It means the dark cannot win everything, the light is destined to rise above the dark, never buried forever. @@litermort Yes, he went through moments of great loneliness and inner emptiness, as is constantly mentioned in the lyrics and as he stated in interviews when he spoke about his depression. However, this entire album is about savior love. He went through the journey of the night but his companion was a kind of constant and saving presence that helped him get out of the abyss. He sings this in the song Neon Noir - “From the abyss, I pirouette my way back to you”. Most of songs refer to the importance of this savior love but is particularly explicit in Vertigo Eyes when he sings: "I'm falling for you along with these tears I hold onto the night between these ears for you I'm falling for you and I keep falling for the truth I've held onto this life all these years for you My darling" One of these days I'm going to approach Neo Noir's video as it contains interesting aspects related to transmutation, regeneration, and alchemical marriage. It seems that VV has a huge attraction to mystical things...

Also thought of that, but… the “jurassic” amber actually has little connection with other images of the song. It is always better for the images to have a throughout connections. And the “dinosaurian” amber doesn’t pull itself in completely, to be frank. Though probably this is that very meaning VV had in mind. @@TatianaPashina Татьяна, я полагаю, это игра с мотивом маскулинного и фемининного. Это традиционный в литературе мотив. Мужское - агрессивное, разрушительное. Женское - нежное, чувствительное. Вилле Вало в своей лирике наделяет своего лирического героя как маскулинными, так и фемининными чертами. Нежностью, чувствительностью, ранимостью. Кроме того, эта вуалетка (а это именно вуалетка, а не вуаль) как нельзя лучше раскрывает мотив трагического: человек - игрушка в руках высших сил, разрушающих его счастье. Если судьба - это мужчина-любовник, то лирический герой - тряпичная кукла в руках судьбы. В общем, оригинально переворачивать традиционные мотивы в искусстве - это изящество и остроумие. Если дилетанты лепечут иное, мы с VV не слушаем.) Кроме того - придавать мужским героям фемининные черты, а женским - маскулинные отнюдь не ново и не связано с гомосексуализмом, к примеру. Уже у Жорж Санд в 1840-х годах встречается такая «игра», а это романтизм. Переодевание женщин в мужчин и наоборот - традиционный мотив у Шекспира, наконец! То есть мы можем это назвать шекспировскими мотивами у VV.
