Visiting Vilnius? One of the great cities to visit within the Baltic States, Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, has some truly remarkable places to visit and things to do. From taking in the historic history to experiencing some of the religious sites and great open spaces - Vilnius is a remarkable city indeed!
The most notable landmarks of Vilnius, both of which are popular Vilnius tourist attractions, are the Gediminas Tower and Vilnius Cathedral. The tower provides a great view over the old town of Vilnius while the Cathedral is known for its great architectural features and bell tower - these are both must-see sights in Vilnius which would be high on a list of things to do in the city.
Great daytrips away from Vilnius include a trip to Trakai Island Castle - which enjoys an amazing location and is a very popular thing to go and see.
There's also trips to the second city of Lithuania in Kaunus and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kernave, which was once the home to early man. A Vilnius travel guide would recommend you visit both of these wonderful spots.
Closer to the inner city of Vilnius itself you'll be able to tour Vilnius Prison and explore its dark past and vibrant present. While some of the other best sights around Vilnius include walking in Bernardine Gardens, taking in the Presidential Palace, or visiting the Three Crosses monument which sits up on high and, again, provides some great views over Vilnius.
Vilnius deserves to be well reviewed by those that visit, there's plenty of variety when it comes to things to do and places to see within the city.

Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania, and its old town, resembling a maze with narrow cobblestone streets, features styles like Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. It’s wonderful that it’s recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site as a historical district. It’s our favorite area!☝️😊🌟 We became interested upon hearing that the Vilnius Cathedral is considered a spiritual pillar for the people of Lithuania!
