Can you use nikon d7000 lenses on z30 ? I hear some adapter is there. The quality reduce if we use adapter? Also have you purchase z30 ? How is the auto focus performance ? One of the frustration with my d7000 and 70-300mm lens is that auto focus is crap. If I take 200 shots only 1 or 2 will be in focus (wildlife photography).

This and the new Z 20f1.8 full frame lens would be a great pair when it comes out. A roughly 30mm focal length is pretty ideal for all kinds of shooting. The only problem is that they're both pretty bulky. If Nikon could release a great compact f2 pancake for the crop sensor that would be the ideal set up for when you wanted to go light.

First bias of Mark is the ZV E10, second bias is this Viltrox 13 1.4. Slap both of them together and you get ... 🤔? Definitely a killer combo😀 Great video Mark! You made me laugh again on my Saturday evening while wife and kid are sleeping😀

Because of dropping my ZV1 in the water i just must decide to by a new zv1 for vlogging or the setup you presented in your great video, the z30 with the 13mm Viltrox. ive got to questions, maybe you could help me out: how heavy is the camera with that lense without a gimbal? still ok vor vlogging? I would do the 13 Viltrox for sure. Amazing lens. The kit lens can be a useful backup (and better for resale value) if it's in the budget.

Watching these Nikon related videos makes me want a Nikon lol. I hope Nikon's next camera is a true competitor to the A7IV and R6. I tried the Z6II and I just wasn't a big fan of it. The autofocus just wasn't quite Sony or Canon level. If they drop some of the tech from the Z9 into a Z6III or Z7III, I'd have a hard time resisting.

One thing you hear from many reviews is the praise of Nikon's files. I don't have enough experience with other brands to make any sort of declaration on the subject, but, I can say that Nikon files are great to work with in Lightroom.

I really do like this Viltrox 13mm f1.4 lens for E mount. How is it compare to Sigma 16mm f1.4? I mean it’s 3mm different but for the price? I can get the used Sigma 16mm for $250. That mean Viltrox is almost double the price.

The Sigma 16 is the best value lens on the planet. It is optically as good as the Viltrox and in some ways better. The 16mm Sigma is overall the best lens you can buy for any system and is always my number one recommendation for Sony. It is not available for Nikon Z

I think it’s a terrible move by Canon. it’s their company - so they can do what they want, but it makes it very difficult to want to enter the system when there is so much excellent affordable lenses for other systems. especially the APS-C system which a lot of people want for a more affordable option

I think it's kind of funny that all Sony and Nikon have to do to look like heroes is continue to do what they've always done. I mean, Nikon and Tamron have a friendship/relationship going back many years. Didn't they even get in on the announcement for a new 70-300 or something that Tamron is developing? I can't see Sony or Nikon going the route Canon is. They're hobbling themselves.

Nice review! I do suggest also showing some footage of the viltrox 13mm on the Z30 without using a gimbal. Since we’re not always gonna use it with a gimbal. Although I’m sure you might have already shown a sample of it in your other vids. But since this is specifically for the 13mm and Z30 combo, then it might still be a good idea.

Hi - am I being picky but to me after watching your other videos compared to the Sony the Nikon doesn’t seem to be focussing precisely as the Sony (Sony footage seems much sharper 2) If the Nikon had a headphone jack maybe you would have picked up the sound issue - the lens looks awesomely built

I don't have the focus speed set as high on the Nikon - so it's a slower focus rack. But I'll be upping the speed next time because I do like it faster. And the audio thing is my fault - I never bring headphones for the Sony either (lol). When you're getting to know your new cameras - it takes a few videos to iron out the kinks.

For a studio I would choose the Sigma. For Astrophotographery and vlog style video I would do the viltrox.

I just locked up a Zed 30 😉 You you please do a test 4k 30fps with a fresh battery and see if it overheats in about 15 to 20 mins handheld? This is what mine does I just want to know if this is normal. Oh er then that it’s an amazing camera

yes, unfortunately it will overheat more quickly when handheld. try to keep the screen open and maybe keep in on a little tripod instead of in your hands. you should get a few more minutes that way

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Figured as much... you get about 30 mins if you leave an Arca-Swiss tripod base plate on if its on my MeFoto ball head tripod you get 52 mins..... If you shoot 4k 24 you get 52 minutes hand held so I am shooting in 4k 24.... I am going to put a Smallrig Arca-Swiss baseplate on teh camera and leave it there so it can act as a heat sync and make it easier to mount on my tripod as required.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Nikon Australia has confirmed that tho some Z30 are worse than others. A couple of KZfaqrs that I asked the same question theirs runs till the battery goes flat essentially. Thanks for the testing it was an interesting exercise. I might do a video on it once I get used to the camera.

Why not? VILTROX AF 33mm f/1.4 F1.4 Z Lens for Nikon Z Mount, APS-C Z Mount Lens for Nikon Zfc Z5 Z6 Z7 II Z50 it’s cheaper and 50 equivalent too. Shall i buy Viltrox 13mm 1.4 or 33mm 1.4 for my Z30? It’s way cheap too

well, they are extremely different focal lengths. the 13 is an ultrawide for things like vlogging and landscape pics. the 56 is for head and shoulders pics of people. So if you’re taking photos off people, get the 56.

Viltrox makes one for the Nikon Z, the Sony E and Fuji X. The one in the vid is Nikon - no adapter needed

In this video I am using the Viltox 13mm for Nikon Z mount. That goes directly on the Nikon. They also make one for Song and Fuji. So if you owned those cameras, you would buy that version

I enjoyed this save for one point: I don't think you need to "pander" to your American audience segment with "Zee" over 'Zed' (is it over 10 times greater than from Canada to match the relative population -- to say nothing of Commonwealth country viewers?). Would you ask an Aussie like Matt Irwin to say 'Nai-kon' like we do instead if "Nick-on" as he does, for example? In any case, I think our cousins to the south respect us enough to handle our pronunciation, as well as understand it without missing a beat. And the at-times indefatigable Gerald Undone has also noted publicly, "Zees are for sleeping."

Personal opinion: if doing vlog it is ok to use light but if doing lens review, shouldn't. Because we want to see how powerful the lens is.

Lenses ability in lowlight is determined by the aperture. This lens has a 1.4 so it’s very good on lowlight. Lower light quality is more a result of the camera and the sensor. The way a lens is judged is on optical quality - flare control, sharpness, colour rendition, autofocus performance, chromatic aberration, etc. Also, I only used the light vlogging when it was completely dark outside. All of the other shots were without the light. No lens will work well in pure darkness
