I think Viltrox 27mm and 75mm will be my go-to lenses for a6700. I feel like I can sell my all other lenses now.

They are great options for sure in my opinion although the AF is not as good as the Sony lenses, so if shooting sports or recording video with deep focus transitions, you might want to consider keeping a Sony lens around.... With that being said for non high speed photos and not to aggressive AF with video, these lenses are fantastic options for the money!

@Jason_Hermann I have had successes so far with photographing (with 75mm) my 8 years old for her gymnastics competition. Maybe once she gets better and faster, the lense might not serve me as well then.

Oh yeah, you can still get great sports shots, but with subjects coming towards you at high speed for example, the hit rate will be less on a lens like this compared to a G or GM lens for example... The AF motor quality does make a significant difference with high speed subjects coming and going from camera position in particular. Thanks again for the comments 👊

I have the Viltrox 23mm and the focus ring stopped working to control the lens. Viltrox hasn't been helpful in anyway to get the lens fixed. I've been so irritated with Viltrox and their customer service I couldn't see myself purchasing another Viltrox lens again. However I am impressed with a few of the new releases.

I have this lens for Fuji. One of the most amazing glass I’ve ever used. Tack tack tack sharp and yes buttermaker delight.

Yeah, it's an incredible lens and it's interesting how some come out for Fuji first and others for Sony first... Really awesome we have these options for both systems at the end of the day and thanks for the comments :)

They make the 85mm f/1.8 Full Frame Lens I reviewed a while ago, but it is not near as good as these newer lenses... Bring on the 90mm f/1.4 APS-C 💪

Thank you for this video. It’s the lens I’ve been waiting for to go with my 75/1.2. When can we order it? While this and the 75/1.2 are a little heavier these will make a great 2 lens kit with my A6700. Now can we get them to do a Pro version of a 28mm equivalent (18 mm). Thank Viltrox from all of us interested in this lens. 40mm is one of my favorite focal lengths.

Thanks for the comments Steve and a pro version of the 28mm would be nice! I'm actually using the 28mm f/1.8 lens in my studio on the A74 for the last few videos and even though it is not a pro grade, the results are still really good in my opinion. So much so I have not taken that lens off the studio A74 yet... haha

I have the 75mm 1.2 for Sony, but i'm returning it (not because its bad) not at all, but its kinda heavy and i do have the 85mm 1.8 from Sony already which works flawlessly. I'm waiting for the 27mm 1.2 100% for sony to buy it right away! the 75mm is superb, incredible quality, so i can't wait for this 27mm!

I'm in love with the 75. Unfortunately I have to travel with my wider lenses, and these things are such bricks. The F1.2 doesn't help me enough to swing me away from the old Sigma 30mm F1.4 (at less than half the weight). Another awesome video BTW!

Can you confirm if it works on full frame with active steady shot for video. I’ve found the 75mm works decently well even in full frame. Plus the newer bodies still have Eye tracking even if you CIZ to punch in another 10% if needed.

Hello, yes I just confirmed the Eye-AF works with 27mm in full frame mode with active stabilization enabled. There is still a decent vignette though just so you are away...

How does this compare with the Zeiss 55mm f1.8 on a FF camera ? Which combo do you think produce better looking images ?

The Viltrox is not a full frame lens so it does not compare really in that regard? If you are talking a full frame camera with the 55mm Zeiss, vs a APS-C camera with the Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 Lens, it's pretty close, but the Viltrox does not have the same micro contrast and Zeiss color due to the T* lens coatings, in my opinion.... However, the Zeiss has some significant purple/ red fringing in the high contrast areas compared to the Viltrox which has pretty much none.

@@Jason_Hermann Yep, that is pretty much exactly what I was wondering. I did compared the 55mm 1.8mm Sony Zeiss with my 56mm f1.4 Sigma, both on my A6700, and honestly in the end I prefer the rendering and the colors of the Sigma. This Viltrox seems to render very contrasty, colorful and smooth photos wide open, that’s why I was wondering how does it (put on a APSC camera) compared to a similar FL lens on a FF camera, like the Zeiss (I know 40,5mm equivalent is not the same as 55mm) Thank you for answering.

Hello, better build quality yes, optics are very similar quality wise, but very different do to 56 vs 75mm... Fuji and Sony are the same quality as far as I can tell other than no custom button which the Sony version has...

hey jason, have you noticed any over heating or other issues when using the a6700 in 4k 24 or 4k 60?

Yes and here are my results: Recording times for video - 4k/60p 45MB -8-bit = 42 min total warning came on at 40min - 4k/60p 200M 10-bit = 52 minutes total temp warning at 46min - 4k/60p 100M 10-bit - 30min (camera was not 100% cold when starting) (128 degrees on back of camera) - 4k/120 = 18min total 16min temp warning came on -4k/24p = 50M 10-bit w/ HDMI and USB-C power in studio (Thermometer on back of camera reading 120F *temp warning came on at 1hr 10min) Temp warning went off at 1 hour 20min then came back on… Camera overheated at 1 hour 30mm w/ HDMI and recording… -4k/24p = 50M 10-bit NO HDMI and USB-C power (overheated after about 1hr 40min)
