How do i know which version is own?

If the lens are named PFU RBMH 85MM F1.8 STM then you don't have the MKII

bro I ordered the lens that you had but guess what? I got the mark II that I didn't know it existed, and also never ordered for the mkII xD

Yes starting last week they start to ship the revision 2, but I am not sure they can be modded like this one. The new version should have anyway fixed the chromatic aberration and should be slightly lighter.

Yes after copying the window will close and open and this is correct. If the version doesn't change then you probably have the makii of these lens, this works only for the first version

Yes as you can see from my video we have 1.6 then 1.7 instead of 1.8, anyway I now have also 1.8 probably since I upgraded to a more recent firmware but now it's there

just download the official one from Viltrox website, flash it and you are done. I did it for try and was able to rollback fine anyway i keep the modded firmware as it gives me more flexibility. What you didn't like?

Did you check you don't have the new version of the lens? 1 month ago a new mark ii release of lens is out, the mod obviously doesn't work with those. Make sure you are only using the model number mentioned in this video description

Strange it should work for sure, with A7 iii it's even easier than a7 ii. Are you sure you did follow all these steps exactly? Mount your Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 lens onto your Sony alpha series camera Ensure your camera is powered on and in Aperture Priority (A) mode. Set your camera to use manual focus mode Set your aperture to f/4.5 Holding the camera so that the screen faces your body, turn the focus ring clockwise (right) until you see it reach the minimum focus distance. Once you've reached the minimum focus distance, continue to rotate the ring an additional 4 complete rotations. Take a photo and allow the camera a moment to write to your SD media The moment the image is written, power down the camera and remove the battery for at least 3 seconds. Re-insert the battery and power the camera back on. You should now be able to open the aperature up all the way to f/1.6

Hey man, I don't know if it worked for you, but I turned my focus ring so many times... Then the aperture indicator was lit up orange, then I took the foto, shut down the camera and took of the battery, maybe you should try this.

yes a7ii It works incredibly well, I need to do some tests but looks like af was a bit better before the mod. Anyway I will soon do a review of these lens, so stay tuned if you are interested

that's not a fullframe camera, this works for sure on all A7, not sure about yours. you could try and can anyway rollback to the original firmware

Yes after the mod, I updated every single time a new firmare was out, nothing changed in terms of aperture steps

@@fgtechtips maybe thats the problem.. i buy this lenses used from marketplace and firmware is already update to firmware 1.2.1 and i just follow instructions (change to f4.5 etc)

@@sheiksha7567 try to install the latest official firmware from viltrox later install the mod firmware and repeat everything again, leave the battery out for 10 seconds instead of 3, here the steps 1.) Download the firmware. 2.) Install Firmware. 3.) Calibrate Lens Use settings: (A) Aperture Priority, Manual Focus, Aperture set to F4.5. 4.) Turn Focus Ring to the Right (Closest Focus Distance 0.8M), 3 to 4 Full Rotations. 5.)Take a Picture. Wait for camera to write to card. 6.) Turn of Camera immediately and Remove Battery for 3 Seconds. 7.) Replace Battery, Turn on Camera.

Pathetic is your comment since: 1) version 2 didn't exist at the time of the video, it came out only months after this video was shot 2) it is already written in the comments and in the video description that this only works with version 1

🤣not a firmware but you can "overclock it" by reprogramming the Engine Management Unit. Kind of firmware update ;)

The software just overwrites 1.8 with 1.6 DoF & light gathering ability stays the same!

Without adding a glass component or focal reducer 1.8 stays 1.8!

@@mik5xa nope the lens blades are now capable of opening wider than before thats why you get f1.6. you can see yourself taking a look at the blades before and after the mod. In many think this actually could be a f1.4 lens labelled as F1.8
