I took my daughter to a Vince Gill concert many years ago. She was 7 at the time. We had tix to a meet and greet dinner prior to the show. She was the only child in the dining room. There was a long line of people waiting to get a pic and autograph from Vince. I decided we would just stay at our table and let it all die down and maybe catch him as he was almost done. After a little bit, he excused himself from the line and came over to our table, got down on a knee and started talking to my daughter. Signed the cd cover we brought (When love finds you) and took pics with us. Nothing but class.

Possibly the greatest performance in music history. Not hyperbole. Brian’s original song is brilliant. Vince Gill’s beautiful voice take it into the stratosphere.

This should be in a space capsule for the universe to hear.

Vince sings like an angel and plays guitar like the devil. A most perfect musician to me.

Yet somehow, Vince Gill is able to take it to another level while paying tribute and remaining faithful to the original. All with the seeming ease of a stroll in the park! Written on 11-22-63. Brian Wilson said his mood became melancholy later that afternoon when he heard the bad news...and so he wrote about losing love, something teens could relate to.

I had forgotten to give Vince a proper thank you for his earliest successes when he was with the Pure Prairie League, their "Live Taking the Stage" album was/is and forever will be on my playlists. They actually sounded much better live than on the studio album, and to anyone who listened to that live album knew Vince was going to be a phenomenal success.

As he played it for Mike Love, the idea began in his mind, as how to approach the lyrics. he came upon the idea of a love that is lost, because the girl didn't feel the same way as the guy did. Yes, Vince's delivery of Brian Wilson's masterpiece is incredible. Same as when Willie Nelson brought the Beach Boys (minus Dennis - RIP) back together to perform it in the studio. If you've not seen that version, Google it. It shows what a jerk Mike Love is when he is attempting to tell Willie how to sing (OMG!). Willie and Vince are simply - class acts! Like Vince was when he stepped up to help the Eagles after we lost Glenn Frye. Thank you Vince!
