a fit Vincent Kompany was the best defender in the league (neutral football supporter) by far. Too often nowadays, players hit 31, 32 and they're done. Messi's done apparently. Dunno if anyone's noticed but he's actually getting better year on year. This guy in the video's quality should never have been undermined. Granted, he did have injury problems and you could say he was a touch unreliable, but, for me he was the best defender the premier league had for many, many years.

the big players missing thing is no excuse in my books for a team like city. Yeah, Laporte is a big blow but with the amount they've spent on defenders, there should at least be another decent enough to defend. I mean if Liverpool had Van Dijk injured it would be a blow but Matip's been world class this season, so have Robertson and TAA. Or if one of those fullbacks are injured, Milner and Gomez are more than good enough to cope a few weeks playing there...if Man City's defence turns dreadful the second Laporte is out, that's not down to bad luck, it's down to bad recruitment.
