@@TyrellGames I think they are better at chocolate as an accent than chocolate in of itself. Snickers are probably the most ubiquitous candy bar in the Americas, but it's mostly nuts and nougat

So since Joel asked, the first game never specifically says why Mary wanted to kill the girls. The most commonly accepted answer is she was a member of some kind of cult that worshipped a dark god called the Great Father and needed to sacrifice the girls to it. It has something to do with the two twin brothers being the key to the apocalypse after they reach 10 years old, which is a good thing Bobby dies at 8 here. Also what kills Bobby isn't falling into the clock tower gears, in reality he was born with several defects at birth that should have killed him but didn't because the concept of time passing doesn't really exist inside the mansion (no don't ask how him and his brother were able to grow up then) which made him effectively immortal. When Jennifer restarted the clock tower then time resumed, and his defects finally took their toll on him. The gears simply crushed his body.

but if I remember the games right, Edward is actually revealed to be the giant baby, and that he appearently emerged from it bc it was actually just a fleshy home thing that shielded Edward while he was growing in there, and in the game with Edward i think he's like already 11 or someting so how come he didn't just start fucking it up when he turned 10?

@@LilUFO9499 Yeah, Edward is actually Dan. The fleshy thing is actually made of the bodies of everyone Bobby has ever killed. The reason the world wasn't fucked up is it requires both Dan and Bobby to be alive so that they could merge into a singular being which is why the plot of Clock Tower 2 is him trying to bring Bobby back to life.

Marketing yes, the guy that made the designs for the monsters left Team SH because Konami wanted to cut and paste Pyramid into every game, and the monster was made for the protagonist of SH2, so it would be dumb to mix Pyramid with other protagonists that have different problems, fuck Konami

@@JackOfen I said "Konami wanted to cut and paste" they tried to convince the author to twist SH's lore just to justify the appearence of Pyramid in other games, just to sell more copies with the power of nostalgia. In the end I guess that they understood how dumb it was but the guy left anyways because again, fuck greedy Konami. Btw I dont remember if the creator of Pyramid saw it as a creature that brought redemption or just punishment, but he said that he would agree to put Pyramid in another game, with the condition that he would get killed by another entity at the start of the game so...yeah a middle finger to Konami's dumb idea. I understand if they wanted to make some references but it was way more than that.

I love this game! I think it’s the best one in the series. Don’t Cry Jennifer (Scissorman’s chase music) is one of the best chase songs in horror games.

@Luker head: Jennifer, Mary and Bobby are straight-up Jennifer, Frau Brückner and her son from Phenomena. And quite a few scenes are taken right out of Suspiria as well, most notable one of the friend death scenes that you can get instead of the bathroom one is based on the stained glass ceiling death from Suspiria.

Now this takes me all the way back. Watching and playing this game back in the day in like 2011 was among my earliest experiences of really getting into horror. I remember this actually being really scary to me as a teen. I suppose I was just sensitive in that respect, but it helped greatly in shaping my tastes in horror because of that. After just shy of 10 years absorbing myself in horror culture, it's the movies and games like Clock Tower that I tend to come back to more often than not. Ones that really soak in the mood and let the atmosphere breathe, ususally very sparing and minimal horror experiences. Halloween, Alien, The Thing, these have all been among my favorite horror movies and they all live and die by the mood they set. I guess it's also no surprise I ended getting an affinity for Giallo horror movies, considering how much this takes from Argento's works It was a shame I couldn't catch this live, but hey. The rerun will do just fine.

Btw, there's three sequels to Clock Tower. There's 2 and 3, as well as the spinoff Ghost Head/Struggle Within. Out of the three, Ghost Head tends to be the one most panned due to localization, gameplay, getting trapped in endings more often, and other aspects.

This was arguable the first Survival horror game to surface the gaming world, some may say there were others that came before it, but I'm sure this game came the closest.

I think clock tower is genuinely scary... well i guess uncomfortably creepy is a tad better. Fun fact: As wine oxidises or whatever the alcohol turns into vinegar acid.
