"Jehovah" comes from an inaccurate translation of God's name in Hebrew and was meant to be unpronounceable as to not take his name in vain, essentially they had nonsense characters around what read "YHWH" and as a result in English the nonsense text was misinterpreted as "Jehovah", but a more accurate reading is Yahweh
