I think they got the idea from the fact that mitochondria actually used to be independent bacteria that developed a symbiotic relationship with eukaryotic cells and allowed them to get energy from oxygen, so the concept is sort of like "what if the mitochondria took on a life of their own again and took over our cells entirely, since we're reliant on them anyway" (which I guess would turn us into monsters...for some reason)

The author of the original novel (which the game act as sort of sequel) is actually an expert on the field. I never read that novel myself but I read some critics about how it went too much on technicalities because the author is a scientist and not professional writer.

I saw the notification for parasite eve yesterday and I got so hyped. My older sister used to play this game and I'd be horrified in the corner and there's a certain....transformation....that scarred me as a kid. I can still picture it so vividly. But I am so hopeful that Vinny enjoys this game.

@@DracoHandsome I grew up with a multitude of dogs because my mom was a poodle breeder. So I’ve always had a great companionship with dogs. So when my sister turns to 6 year old me and was like ‘look, there’s a cute dog.’ I got really attached to the police dog in the game…so the Sheeva scene haunts me.

It's probably a real pain for Vinny to voice act these lines but I like it a lot, lol. Especially having a 'local' voice act these NYC NPCs. JRPG LPs on this channel are my favorite like Final Fantasy 9 and Earthbound because of the VA. I jumped for joy when I saw this game come up!

i just kinda wish there were more variety in the music choices. the entire game has like six soundtracks in it, a normal battle theme, a tougher battle theme, the eve theme, the safe zone theme and some misc ambient themes while exploring

I love Parasite Eve. I found this in a dumpster in like 2001 and was so enthralled. A friend of mine in college had the original novel that the game is based off of. It was wild. I could never find the novel again and it's out of print.

PS1 "jiggle" was caused by the lack of subpixel precision, texture maps used affine coordinates or something along those lines. It had no way to correct perspective when rendering 3D.

Hope the next square soft game he does is Xenogears. I've been going through it myself and I think there's a lotta stuff I think Vinny would enjoy. Also, it was apparently one of the original pitches for FF7!

@@MegaDeathRay10 From what i know they were given an ultimatum to either finish disc 1 and release it or cram everything into disc 2. Considering the fact the idea Takahashi had in mind for Gears as a whole it's no surprise people would've thought it wouldn't sell very well. Though there's apparently an artbook that actually shows everything, seems worth looking into after I finish my playthrough I guess.
