OH MY GOODNESS! I actually recognise the game Moonglade is copied from! It's a japan-only transformers game called The Mystery of Convoy, and it is notoriously difficult. The enemies are incredibly hard to hit, and their projectiles are nearly invisible. Also one of the bosses is literally a floating Decepticon symbol.

Hassle is a romhack of Front Line and yes, it is THAT slow.

I went to the mall last month and actually saw some Chinese vendors hocking a shitty plug-n-play, advertising it by having it playable on nearby HD TVs. They had a game that was very clearly Super Mario Bros with very minor changes (like making the ground blocks slightly uglier, and changing Mario's head slightly) on there. The controller and system itself were very clearly modeled on the NES Classic, but the front of it said "ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM" and the controllers had turbo buttons on them too, in a second row above normal A and B. I remember accessing Super Mario Bros. via one of those horrible stock multicart game select menus. It had 620 games on it, and they had a little game list on a paper nearby. I played on it for a little bit (the controllers were shit btw, I lost a life on freaking W1-1 they were so sticky) then left before the ladies could start trying to sell me on it.

I noticed the border around the logo earlier and it keeps throwing me off.

I own a multicart with that Pocket Monster game with the Pikachu. The multicart was advertised as having Pokemon Yellow on it as well as a bunch of other Pokemon games on there, so 6 year old me really wanted it and I got my parents to get it for me. Literally every single Pokemon game on there was some weird bootleg or romhack in the exact same fashion - one I remember featured a silver/white colored Sandshew who jumps into a bed and dreams about jumping around on giant mushrooms. Weird shit.

Handeld? In two places too? PLEASE tell me that was how it was spelt on the console.

Here I am running into the Pocket Monster bootleg game. At this point, I've determined to make the statement that this is the first video game I've ever played in my entire life. I remember it like it was yesterday, thanks to my mother buying me one of these 200 in 1 plug n plays. Mother has both blessed and cursed my discovery of video games. And I'm thankful for that.

I have a theory on the strange shifted colors only happening on the AV out. A lot of those games were coded for "OneBus" famiclone hardware, which could display more colors (16-bit) than the standard Famicom/NES. My guess is that they didn't wire their AV-out correctly, and since its still trying to display those enhanced colors, it fails and grabs the ones that would have corresponded to the original Famicom hardware instead.

Oh wow, some of those those original games aren't just inverted, the output is _all_ bits of screwed up on them. Wonder if it's some mismatch in output, wouldn't shock me if the thing wasn't tested at all. After all, the 2A03's output here is just completely missing the Triangle channel altogether, and some games have their sound completely screwed up. Space War 3... Liked that better when it was called Gun Nac.

They bootleg the most obscure shit sometimes. I mean there's always your Mario and Contra reskins, but then there are times like "Colliding" at 1:21:45 where they have a fucked up rendition of "Elf Forest" from Dark Lord as the music, a random NES game probably like 7 people have actually played. It's fun just trying to pinpoint what's been bootlegged from where. I envy Vinny's trash collection. Is that weird?
