I am weeping at the shear beauty of this performance. I think her voice was perfect for this role. And that costume is stunning on her.

This Dame Joan at age 60. with considerably diminished resources, but certainly still a commanding diva who could deliver a performance. She was close to retirement here.

Absolutely magical. She was still so much in control of that fabulous voice. No diminishing notable at all. She might have been past her youthful prime but the maturity of the voice is spell bounding. Brava Joan. RIP we will always miss you.

I do believe this is one of my favourite operas. I’ve seen it the most so I must like it... And Sutherland is well, Stupendous, in this role.
