Magical, colourful performance. I have not heared an equally balanced, controlled and poetic performance of reflets dans l'eau for a long time.

Marvelous Debussy! He has just the right touch for this music, and he plays it with great empathy for Debussy's style. There are some places in these pieces which are very awkward to play, and he makes it all sound very natural. His pedalling and chord voicings are wonderful. Thumbs up! 2. Hommage à Rameau - 05:08 3. Mouvement - 11:00

This young man's musicianship is simply astonishing. Every piece he touches, he performs beautifully, magically, perfectly. From Scarlatti to Stravinsky, everything he performs is breathtaking. When I first heard him, I was immediately hooked--here was someone so exceptional, among or above the very best of the very best. And so young. He is destined to become among the greatest pianists of the twenty-first century. What a gift to the World!

Oh, I envey you that Scott! I hope that when I get back to Salt Lake City, he will perform there. I haven't been this excited about a new (to me) young pianist in decades. This young man channels the divine, I think. Just jaw-dropping.

There is a misreading of one chord in the right hand in Trifonovs Interpretation of Hommage à Rameau. 8:40 in Bar 47; should be an B sharp, second voice. He unfortunately plays B. Debussy has written a G sharp minor chord over the same bass.

Yes, and unfortunately he makes that same mistakes several times in a row, as the note is repeated. Still . . . it didn't sound too awful.

punkpoetry sorry but people who obsess over a wrong note don't even understand music let alone care about it....

If somebody is familiar enough with the piece and has a good enough ear to pick out a flat note amidst all that harmony, I would say they understand and care about music a great deal :-) It's interesting to note even if it is only a small mistake. A reminder that even great musicians aren't perfect.

Response to Bach performance: weak, thin, terrible recording quality, unlike his others. Prelude tempo, maybe a bit slow, Fugue less-than exuberantly articulated. But Bach works at a variety of tempi, so indiv. reponse subjective. I wonder when this recording was actually made, under what circumstances? Might he have been about 9 years old at the time? It's still very good, just not up to his standards, and crappy recording puts a bad light on all of it, (Imho.)
