I love Milliput - being able to shape it with wet tools makes it so easy to work with, and the fact it can be filed, drilled, and tapped when dry is another bonus.

You could also use a tiiiiny drill and drill the thump and put in some kind of metal armature before sculpting the thumb for grater durability

It is cool that you are showing how to fix a Buck Rogers in any way. I remember the figures from that set were really prone to having the rubber band that held their midsection and lower body together snap, especially Wilma and Twiki.

I usually use a support when doing this something to hold them in place.that looks great though

I've been doing your technique for this repair and it works like a charm. The one step I add is to cover the thumb and part of the hand with a tiny amount of super glue so that it helps bond the apoxie and and plastic together. It means you have to paint the entire hang but it looks flawless and it makes the thumb stronger.

Great vid. Milliput can be smoothed with water while wet. To give a bit more stability, the putty can be spread over the hand a bit and then blended with a wet paintbrush.

great fix it guide toy polloi brilliant ive got Indiana jones. I find the gun always falls out of the hand. so I put a tiny bit of blue tack in the hand to hold the gun in place.

Black hole figures did come with weapons, at least the red robots did, some sort of silver pistol I recall.

One way of making them a bit stronger is to use a really fine drill and put very thin wire in the hole and glue it in place then insert the wire into the miliput piece and it will give the milliput some support.

+Mark Moore You might be able to do that on Indy. Bucks hand is way to small and the plastic is brittle.

Toy Polloi Yeah they might be a bit too small. Have you ever seen Glenn Webb's videos? He did some really interesting customs with milliput. Great video by the way. You did an excellent job repairing those figures.

One thing that might work: luthiers often use super glue and baking soda to repair broken guitar nuts. It's as strong as concrete on a small scale like that.

Beautiful. I've got a Star Trek III Scotty (G.I. Joe style figure) that I've always regretted breaking and losing the thumb. Do you do a wet scraping to shape or just straight dry bladework?

It looks like trying to repair a GI Joe with a broken crotch, might be a similar fix. Have you ever tried that?

Green stuff remains flexible after curing. Milliput will break off.

80s GI Joe are the worst for damaged thumbs, ugh. The center crotch area snaps away too easily, as well.

Hi Dave! I want to make a streets of Cairo custom Kenner figure using the torso of the 2009 Hasbro whip action Indiana with out jacket and the bottom from the new retro Indy . Do you think the torso can be cut out? How do u think it’s the best way to separate them? Thank u ! 😊

Hi! I like to ask, I got a cracked crotch piece of a vintage 3/34 joe figure. What the best way to safely reinforced the crack crotch to strengthen and avoid it from snapping off? Without adding a pin. Can you also recommend a type of glue that you use that is also can be find and also available in asia? Siince I can't find the brands you use there since they are not familiar with the type of glue you mentioned. Thanks

Just curious, does the thumb hold up on Indy when using the quick-draw action? I am wondering how strong that stuff is after it dries because it seems as if it doesn't have much to anchor onto. Are you gentle when putting a gun in the hand?

+ianA You can use the feature. But these will never be that strong. More for display.

I guess you could actually use it to do whole hands, feet or any broken part of a figure ive also seen video's on customising figures with this stuff, for the price its a great product and comes in many colours, now why didn't you mention that mr polloi?

These days I would insert a bit of wire/paperclip to add some extra support. Drill a small hole to insert that into the hand first.

I have 3 sets and I have tried to repair them ..may need motor?the one that runs the sonic part does not work very well.
