Sometimes a simple toy can be great fun. And what is more simple than a boat. This Action Man Assault craft is well built and after more than 40 years still works well. Check out how I got on taking the boat of the river.
And a little bit of cleaning to start with.

This is what kids are missing today. Great way to showcase a fun toy. There was one particular scene where he was looking to the side at an angle, and I thought for sure he found the secret tomb of some lost river god. Or a huge crocodile moving towards him. Great video.

I think action man was trying to escape the land of the giants. This video brought back some happy memories for I had this action man and the dinghy when I was young and I loved them for they were lovely toys and the adventures I used to take all of my action men on along with their accessories was many.

Wait, he went on a mission unarmed? Loved the "adventure" footage, more of that would be cool. It brings back memories of childhood. One of the things I really like about you is that you're not just shoving the toys on a shelf. You're not just a "collector" you still relish the play value of the toys.

10 years old, broke my leg and this was a gift from my parents to ease the pain. Took it to the old boating lake in Royal Vic Park in Bath - brilliant - great toy, great action fun. Could just about get to the other side of the lake on my crutches before the boat hit the opposite wall. Managed to get all sorts of pond weed, string, wool and elastic bands stuck around the prop over the years but, as you say, it always just worked (after a bit of amateur ‘toy-polloi-ing’). Thanks for the memories.

Great little AM movie. I don't know if you have used Liquid Gold spray on some dull plastics. It is meant for restoring wood in Antique shops. If you spray it on the plastic that the Assualt craft is made of, gentlely rub it in and leave for a few days. It adds live to the plastic and makes it more supple. On hard plastics it gives a good shine to. You don't have to use loads of it either. I put it on my Lanard/Corps figures BRILLIANT stuff. Cheers Dave in the UK.

Another cracking video, Dave, thank you! Especially liked the POV shots! You could run advertising campaigns based on your video shorts! IIRC, the motor is mounted vertically in the outboard and is attached to the prop by a spring. The spring translates the vertical into horizontal without a bevel gear. I have a partial memory that the spring would be damaged if the prop became entangled and excessive force was used to free the tangle. I would need to check what I have stored in Mum’s attic to see what there is. It’s also possible that the spring is a little rusty and needs some treatment to remove the corrosion. I would guess that some light grease injected into the back of the prop, where the spring would reduce the friction and allow the single battery to kick the motor into life when the outboard is dropped into position.

I was ten and on holiday in Blackpool. My mum and dad said I could spend my holiday money how I like so we called in to a large toy store and I got the wet suite and the blow up version of the dingy in this video. Only problem was it was on a display card and had been sown down so it would not blow up we took it back to the shop and there where about 8 on the stand and every one was the same ...gutted ten year old boy was I you could say I was stitched up.

Did the outboard motor ever have a control arm for Action Man to hold on to? I'd give the motor a quick squirt of WD-40 - that usually fixes everything. And the water footage was great. Oddly, it reminded me of an ancient childrens' TV show called 'Tales Of The Riverbank'. If only the GO-PRO had been available when I was a kid... Nice one!
