How much fun would it be to get one of these moss monsters moving without removing the vegetation? Take it to an air cooled show and drop some jaws....

I'm amazed at how preserved these cars are despite the forest growth that consumes most of it. Back home around KY/IL they would be eaten by rust from salted roads and humidity. Great vid!

Thanks for taking us on the journey. It would be hard to film when you are so excited.

It was very difficult 😂 I kept seeing things and getting more excited. Sean had to take the camera away from me several times. Thanks for watching!

The growth on the cars is mind blowing.

There's something very melancholy about places like this. All of those vehicles were, at one time or another, somebody's pride and joy. And now they sit abandoned and forgotten. The stories those VWs could tell if they could talk. Yes, I watched 'The Brave Little Toaster' a lot as a kid.

As did we as well 😂 it was heartbreaking. We’re trying to figure out if anything can be saved.

Definitely a Honda Civic wagon. Tercel rear window is longer than the door window, plus the height of the greenhouse is definitely Civic. Love this whole expedition, want to watch one of these cars get resurrected!

Oh man what fun! I see so many parts I want and need. I didn't hoard enough I guess. I wish I would have started collecting German cooling tin sooner when it was easier to obtain.

This was awesome! All these cars I remember seeing when growing up. My favourite is the squareback, love all of those cars (including the American ones), saw a nice couple of T3s as well, they are becoming quite popular and sought after in Europe. We are never going all electric if I can help it 🙂

I couldn't remember exactly when the trip was planned and now I know. Happy Motors, indeed. Yikes. At night, I imagine them coming back to life and reeking havoc. I'm interested in a 'Gia with the toaster oven option for breakfasts on the run! The place is beyond amazing. Good for you guys!! 😎

I've been there! I bought my beetle in Port Angelas (found it on Samba, good good deal sortof) and drove it to this bone yard, and another one nearby, and half way up Mt Angelas on the 24 hr skakedown run before signing the papers and arranging to ship it home to MA. It looks like a bunch of the old splits and barn doors are gone from there now. Enjoy!

Exciting! What a jungle! It is fascinating to see how nature took over those forlorn cars. I loved that you got excited by seeing a Tercel! Was it really a 4wd one? it looked more like a Honda, but with all that overgrowth... its like converted into forest creatures.(Japanese cars from before 1990 seem to be soooo rare now that its exciting to see any). Wanted more of Rachel's description of the Human activity and fauna! I cannot imagine how bad some of those things smelled. Be careful with mold it can do nasty things to your lungs. Good luck with your journey back, looking forward to see how this trip goes.

It was a 4WD Tercel! They’re all over the place out there, we saw several on the road. Such cute little cars. Rach is a big time nature nerd. Worked at a bird sanctuary for over a decade and is at a tree conservancy now. I wanted to get more of her losing her mind over all the growth but I was too busy losing my mind over all the cars 😂

@Taylor: I contacted the Volkswagen Museum and asked about the 34 PS/36 HP mismatch. They wrote back to me and these a the engine figures: 1131 cm³ - 25 PS - 1945-1953 1192 cm³ - 30 PS - 1953-1960 1192 cm³ - 34 PS - 1960-1965 The US-exported 1192 cm³ engine as of 1960 is identical to the German one, except that it was rated 36 HP in the US instead of 34 PS (DIN), which is the German unit for engine power.

Because they are not reproduced and no one was selling one used. I have the handle but there’s a secondary piece that goes inside the door that I didn’t have. Also, Jbugs sucks 😂

@wickedwerks5 ай бұрын
A lot of them were, yes. Most of them were so wildly inaccessible that it wouldn’t matter if they were saveable it would take weeks to get them out. Some of the stuff on top of the hill by the shop may still have some time left, a couple of years tops.
@ronmac90665 ай бұрын

You can buy parts. Difficult to contact him as he’s shut his landline off and doesn’t have a cell phone. You physically have to go to the shop.
