VINTAGE Book + PAPERBACK Pickups - January 2024 - Incredible USA Goodies - ASMR, Maybe!
In this video I take a look through my pickups of vintage paperbacks that came my way in late December and January 2024. These mainly came from a viewer and collector in the USA, Richard, plus a few off eBay and some rather lovely christmas presents. Some beauties in here!
These all needed cleaning and making good. It took awhile but the results were great and these will make a worthy additions to my collection.

Fabulous editions there. Can't say I'm impressed with modern efforts with covers. Seem to go by author's name only.

Yep, the modern books have no attention to detail, just typographical covers of authors name and title. These are beautiful 🙂

Always love your videos, enjoy learning through your channel. Btw, hair dryer usually works well for the Goodwill stickers (hate those pesky things!).

Yes, I have sometimes tried a hair dryer. A full test of various methods is planned!

I believe the Beats cover features Allen Ginsberg, not Jack. Years ago he signed a collaborative (with Philip Glass) CD for me after a concert.

Love watching your vintage book pickups. So many great finds. That ‘La Dolce Vita’ is beautiful. I find the way they integrated pictures fascinating. Thanks for the reminder to listen to your audiobook version of ‘Shooting an Elephant’. Interesting how ‘The Maltese Falcon’ has red endpapers. Handsome book. Appreciate the mention of my channel. The first twelve Ace Specials have the inset square cover art. Look forward to hearing about your Dorset Bob visit.

I think i can remember you repairing the jacket of " The Forbidden Planet . If you plan to collect" The Prisoner " be sure to get Number six .Jackie K ... Camelot in the White House 👸 " Gun fight At The OK Corral " one of my fave oaters , along with the classic " High Noon " i would love to get my paws on that book, if it exist . Whats your fave oater .Best leave the sticker , why do they use those infernal stickers and tapes . R.I.P Christopher Priest . I know that like Steve you are reader of C P s . The " Dragon Riders " is a large series .A rabbit hole ? for the collector . Thanks for the show and speak .

Thanks Sylvan. Book Six of the Prisoner 😀 I'd be surprised if there wasn't a book of High Noon. The sticker is a pain, in such an awkward spot as well. Sad news about Christopher Priest, a huge talent lost. I'll be fine getting just the first six or so McCaffrey's, honest👍

Last time I was in Addymans in Hay they had the early Digit I Robot by "Issac Asimov" (sic), great condition but they wanted something like £75 for it, which was too rich for me! Still, that's cheaper than the first edition of I Robot that a dealer I know was selling for over £1000. Great video as ever Jules, but I'm soooo jealous of your copy of Forbidden Planet, what a find! Nice one, Jason.

Thanks Jason, Forbidden Planet USA edition had been on my wants list for a few years. Glad to finally have a copy. The haul in general was really top notch. I Robot will turn up eventually at a decent price, £75 is a little steep😂
