Most of those doilies have pineapples not petals. I learned to crochet by making doilies. You are so fortunate to have your Grammy’s treasures. Keep the craft going.

Yes, you are correct! My brain refused to remember the word pineapple when I was filming 😂 I love that doilies were your first projects. I think I would have been too intimidated to learn crochet starting off with doilies. Thanks for watching.

The green one you’re using as a hot pad is like the dish cloths I make and use in my kitchen. The weird-shaped cloth with embroidery and crochet edging is a bread bowl cloth - put it in a basket or bowl, put dinner rolls in it, and then the 4 corners fold on top of it. At least, that’s what my grandma told me it was when she gave me hers. All in all, what a treasure from your grandmother! 💕 Thank you for sharing!

I believe the cream oddly shaped embroidered piece is a cover for a bread basket. My grandma had those too! You shoud place the larger square into the basket, then fill the basket with the bread and lastly you cover it with the 4 "smaller" squares. When in use, it actually turns into a beautiful shape, almost like a flower and your bread will be protected 😊

Thanks for the info! That's really neat. I bet she would fold it so the one corner/square with the extra embroidery detailing would sit on the top!

Doilies in embroidery hoops are amazing. Also, stitched together to make a curtain topper are spectacular and an amazing way to feature them all together😚 👌🏻 Last idea is to tea dye them to unify the color palette 🍍🍒🍪💜

Ooh thank you for reminding me about connecting them into a curtain topper! That would give purpose to a number of the doilies, plus I can add my own personalized touch by crocheting in the spaces between the doilies when I connect them. I think I have a new project to add to my list!

The little bag with the bamboo skewers, the green metal etc. look like the bags of goodies I have when I am crocheting flowers and I use the skewers wrapped in floral tape to make stems for roses, sunflowers etc. and the green wire I also wrap in floral tape but I can bend it to make flower stems that bend. Love seeing all the lovely pieces from your grandma. I'm sure she used them under her lamps, placed them on the arms of chairs so sweaty hands wouldn't stain the furniture ant he same places larger ones on the head rest of furniture so the oils from your hair wouldn't stain the furniture. Love them, use them, place in frames as for wall hanging or in a picure as a background for a framed picture of grandma. the possiblities are endless.♥🧶💐

You are so blessed to have all those beautiful pieces your grandmother made. They are just so gorgeous. I have made almost all of them and had given them to my daughters and family. Never kept any for myself which I now regret. The double pointed needle is simply a stray double pointed knitting needle. All the bamboo skewers are probably knitting needles, double pointed if pointed on both ends, single point if it has one pointed end and has some kind of knob on the other end. They could also be a part of a crochet lace loom. Lots of cool stuff! Blessings to you ❤

We used to use double pointed needles for knitting gloves with fingers or socks or the like lol , we would use four of them :-) you are so lucky you were gifted your Grandmas goodies, she'd be delighted with your appreciation and love for her work I'm sure :-) xx

Ah, that makes so much sense about the double pointed needle! It was several years ago that I saw her for the last time, but I remember how proud she was watching us great granddaughters crocheting. Treasured memories for sure. :)

The 8 min mark of the doily with flaps is to be starched with crushed baking paper (or waxed perhaps) to keep from sticking. Its to be a ruffle in the end.

Those ones in a ziplock i think are panels to be joined for a bedspread. Like she started it n never got the rest finished. Seems like i have seen that pattern in a book/magazine as a bedspread.

Gorgeous doilies! Can you share the title for the pattern book where you made the same doily that you starched into a bowl?
@CraftersAutonomous

After looking through my notes, here is the info on the doily pattern: Doily Pattern by Mickie Akins, featured in booklet titled "3-in-1 Doilies" It's not in print anymore, but with some googling I found this ebay listing for it - Doily Pattern by Mickie Akins, featured in booklet titled "3-in-1 Doilies" This should at least give you an idea of what the booklet looks like. Also, after looking at the picture of the doily on the front of the book, I vaguely remember doing something slightly different than what the book said because I got confused by the pattern instructions 😂 I'm gonna have to compare with the one my Grammy made to see if ours have that slightly different detail!

Girl I need help with my loofas! I live in Los Angeles I grew bottle gourds they did great. This is my 2nd year trying loofah. They grew well lots of leaves, healthy vines. I never got even one flower WTF? Right?😊
@CraftersAutonomous
@CraftersAutonomous 24 күн бұрын
Oh, that's crazy! Did you at least get flower buds that never opened, or literally no flowers at all??? 😱 If there's not even any flower buds... maybe it's a nutrient imbalance issue? Nitrogen in general will help with leaves and green growth. Sounds like you're doing fine there. Phosphorous helps with root and flower growth, so maybe the soil is lacking in this area? Potassium can also play a role in the plant overall, but I don't know if that would explain what's going on. If you have buds that just aren't opening, it could be a weather/environment issue. I recently found this helpful video that talks through some reasons why flowers may not open - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pLVkp5CUus-5Z6c.htmlsi=44WPq1Jb2QZMz6ap Maybe something in this will help? You can also try posting on local gardening groups on Facebook to get advice from people in the same growing conditions. Also, I have the opposite problem - loofahs do great and the bottle gourds don't produce 😂
