"1990's can't be vintage" (1990 was more than 30 years ago) me: _shook_ Sidenote, "retro" might be more accurate? tho idk. Also also, 1990 was 33 years ago but was the beginning so really the era was like 25 years? idk, my gut says it's not retro for many things yet. (it is retro for video games, and prolly)

OMG!!! My mom made me the exact purse/bag when I made my First Communion (many many years ago!!! I was 8), she also made me a matching shawl to wear with my dress as I made my Communion in April and it was a very chilly day. I remember the bag so well because I used to keep my Barbie clothes and my sole Barbie in it! LOL!! wow !!! Makes you feel real old when you hear the word vintage added on to it! Wish I still hadit!

and here's a tip for those beautiful wooden beads. you can either paint them with nail varnish, or colour the bead in with a felt tip pen (we call them koki pens in South Africa) and then seal it with a clear nail varnish . i just love this bag. Thanks for the wonderful tutorial xxx

To thread the non-string side onto the bead, cut a small length of yarn & thread it on to the darning needle, pass the string through the end of the tie & double thread the needle as the 1st side. Then simply pull through the bead, the piece of yarn can then be pulled out & discarded. Fab bag so simple but looks a lot harder than it is. 👏👏❤️❤️🇬🇧

I am literally kicking myself, i threw out a couple of broken bags yesterday that had metal rings whete the handles were attached, if I'd seen this tutorial before i most definitely would of cut them off! Grrrrrr, now I'll have to buy some in order to make this bag because not making it isn't an option!!!! I really love the detail on this! Thanks for another gorgeous item Corrina!

I love watching all your videos while i sit and do my own crochet, i feel like we are two ladies just having a chin wag and get our crochet on. I do believe the metal rings are called " D rings" as they are mostly shaped like the letter D. Cheers from Australia 🙂

Corrina, you are one of the best instructors out there, and I watch A LOT of crochet channels. I love that you point out every stitch and in the tricky areas you use your needle pointer to help explain. So important for newbies. I’ve been crocheting for over 45 years and I still learn new tricks from you. Thank you for your dedication and excellent craftsmanship❤️❤️

Just finished crocheting this bag. Came out beautifully. Added a heavily interfaced cotton zipper lining and used the wooden beads and macrame rings (had to stain and finish myself and hoping the varnish won't wear on the material). I also had to improvise on the rows above the flower inserts (row 4 & 5?) because I couldn't see clearly where to put the stitches. I redid those two rows 4x before I decided to just do my own thing. It turned out and I had the correct amount of stitches. Of course, those same 2 mirror rows under the flower inserts are not exactly like the other 2 rows, but you have to be looking for it to see it. Imade this for my daughter, who was over the top when I gave it to her. Very difficult pattern for a newbie, but not regretting it. Very good, in depth tutorial without actually walking you through each stitch. Thank you for this beautiful pattern and excellent tutorial

I finally made this. So fun. For the belt I used the Tunesian crochet method, but made it a bit wider. And then (since I don't want projects to end, and I also did not feel like crocheting the straps) I added some details as we had to do on the flowers. It is nice. Thanks for the video, the inspiration and creativity. "I don't know what I'm doing...?" Love this, we all feel it too :-)

Such a beautiful bag! Just fyi, my arthritis makes the Crab Stitch difficult and painful to do, so I substituted it with the Twisted Single Crochet stitch. Not only is it more comfortable to do, but I it’s worked forward and the final effect is very similar to the Crab Stitch. Thanks for sharing so much great stuff!

Thanks for the pattern. I followed right along with you with a size "F" hook.and cotton yarn. Then I tried it using a size 7 steel crochet hook and size 10 cotton crochet thread. It cane out really looking like actual Venetian lace. I am going to make a 2 piece outfit-sweater and skirt. Can you give us a tutorial in projects using a sewing needle and sewing thread to make the motifs? The motifs made with a size F hook and cotton yarn also make a beautiful christening gown, bonnet , booties and shawl

When adding the beads to the end, lace a strand of yarn through the end stitch of the end with no loose strands. Then feed both of the ends of the loose thread through the bead and pull your strap through. Once the strap is through the bead, discard the loose length of yarn.

I like the look, but I learned my lesson with the soutache bag. I made one as a gift, and then four more for people who wanted one. The next person to ask me for a bag is getting a hook and a pound of yarn, along with personal instruction from me. They can learn to make their own bag. The patterns you're picking are great, everyone wants something!

Struggling to put the 'dull' end of the strap through a bead? Just take a piece of scrap yarn and slipstitch through the end to create a temporary strand you can use the needle on. Also recommend sanding the beadhole aforehand. You don't want a burr cutting through your strap. Loved the video!

Would you suggest blocking the flowers and bag bottom? My base is a little curled so i know i will have to block that, but would blocking the flowers help with the way they lay? Also, i loved your tutorial! It can be so difficult finding the correct stitch to join and you pointed every one of them out. Thank you so much for sharing this. I also need a good tutorial on making a Mandela circle vest. I started one, but am having a lot of difficulty with it. The yarn in the tutorial is too dark and stitches are hard to see, and also the rows are not separated or explained as thouroughly as i must need. I think you would do an excellent job with a tutorial like that.
