Don’t worry Richard !! The doors are easy and you’ve missed the bulkhead and tub - damaging them would have been a nightmare. Cheap fix is to take the door card off and just push the dent out a bit, careful with the door card though - those early one piece lift up handle door fittings are rare. Chucking more money is a new door from somewhere like sp4x4 (good prices) and paint to match, probably cheaper than reskinning it too. Cheapest fix is to call it character and don’t do it again 😅

The Harrow might work as a place to hang tool up on. It you hang up the Harrow in a shed with the spikes pointing out, Then hang tools on the spikes maybe.

In my late grandad's garden, there is still an original white brick two stall cow byre, with original hay loft and hay feeders, cobblestone floor and big stone kirbs. Now used for storing the lawnmower in and as a sort of garden shed.

The Harrow was known as a zig zag Harrow their was a long bar to go on front that joined all the sections to gather and a long piece of timber attached to go in between the 2 horse. it folded up to be loaded to move it from field to field 😅

the harrows are zig zag harrows for harrowing ploughed ground, they were attached to a long pole for width. My grandfather was a horse ploughman/ Shephard

Hi Richard. Great videos. I would say that the horse drawn implement is a potato lifter. Would make a nice sun chair in the garden. Never seen a set of peg harrows like that before. Could upcycle them into a wine rack or book shelves in the farm house. I have seen a peg harrow made into lights hanging from the ceiling. Or stud up against a garden wall with flowers on. Just some ideas. Glad they have survived and you are keeping them as part of the farms history.

My grandfather starred on his first job on a farm in the 1930s with horses ramsholt Suffolk, after the war he started on another farm for another 41 yrs with tractors, I still have his first pay packet after the war, he would of probably well used that item, maybe they lifted sugar beet or turnips with it, would look nice painted with new handles 👍

Zig Zag harrows and horse drawn row crop hoes . We used zig zag harrows for harrowing after the corn drill. Also for smoothing the ground before planting veg . . I suspect a lot of them are still in use today. Lots for sale if you Google them.

It's either a side hoe or a sugar beet topper, it looks a bit wide for the side hoe,its not for potatoes they usually have a short ridged with fingers on to separate the tattys and soil the harrows look like covering harrows to follow the drill cultivating harrows have a chisel tooth on them(,probably find a bag full) at an agricultural engineer a I use I know he has some with left hand home made Whitworth nuts on

Richard... well done on another unexpected trip down memory lane... love old farm equipment as well which brought me into agri engineering...😊. We sill have a lot of sentimental equipment about as well on our farm which with a little bit of fettling would go back to work... Still have fond memories of an old threshing machine sitting on the edge of a field when I was just wee .. but it left the farm to a new owner about 40 years ago, probably still about yet... they knew how to build things to last with quality materials back then... stay safe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Now I'm no expert but it kinda looks like a bean cutter. They used to do a lot of field beans in New York state and it sorta looks like the old tractor dawn ones only older. Could be something else I'm not sure. Anyway it's neat old stuff, your great grandfather was probably using those.

As above with the position of the feet on yer horse kit I’m wondering If it’s for lifting turnips as a potato lifter tends to have “fingers” to catch the individual potatoes, whereas that’s shaped like it catches two rows of a single root lifts them into the centre , then followers would top n tail them with a knife and load them into a cart, I’m sure there’s bound to a few vintage ploughmen in your area would let you or Jack have a go with the old Ferguson or a horse plough

2 and 6 2 shillings and 6 old pence (2s 6d) or a half crown. My pocket money from my gran. It was a fortune in 1970 for a kid. If you consider black jacks were 4 for a penny or 4oz of loose sweets from a jar for up to 6d (old pence) it represented a helluva crop of sweets.

Its always sickening when you damage a long priced vehicle like an old Landy, being a Defender owner myself i do feel your pain. On a more serious note though there seems to be a theme running here of a general lack of concentration, The fert bag issue, the busting of the hestan bale for the pigs and now this. i do worry about you as it is noticeably getting worse in the past few months. Im a long time subscriber and im not trying to be ultra critical its just my own observations. As for the implement i would take it back to the house and place it in the garden, paint it up and it will look great.

Ahh, Land Rover. When in the army we would have drilled through the door, screwed a large hook onto a batten on the inside, length of rope and pull it out ! The harrows would have had, usually, a wooden yoke to which they attached via large chain link type fittings onto the 'pig tails', then the yoke fitted up to the horse, we had similar, but the yoke fitted to the tractor via a chain, useful bits of kit, certainly for harrowing in seed.

I am severely visually impaired, love, listening to your channel. I am a Bodger,. And I’ve got into restoring old vintage tools. But in the past, are used to restore old tractors and lorries with my mate.. So please equipment in the garden, use the chain harrow as a plant climber., Don’t let it go rusty in a field, like a lot of Bahin heritage from the past, all farmers used to always say I might need it one day, they never did. I knew a farmer when he died load of his stuff was so rusty it had to go to scrap in the end. It was a very sad day as there were some amazing farm equipment could’ve been saved should’ve been saved for the future is the history of farm

Ohhh that poor Land Rover😢, seeing that hurt me more than the Land Rover. That stuff was made to last, how many lifetimes? 2 Bob = 2 shillings or One Florin ==10p. 3/6 = 3 shillings and sixpence == 17-1/2p. A Tanner = Sixpence == 2-1/2p. 5 Bob = 1 Crown or 25p. Half a Crown = 12-1/2p. Feet & Inches. Rod, Fathom, Furlong etc, etc. It's all a part of history for me and many older folk. Just as the old machinery is a part of you Richard, and you as a child of decimalization. Acre to Hectare (conversion factor 2.471). How do you state the size of your farm in conversation? At school which I left in 1963 we were taught the Imperial system and all it's quirks. When I finished my apprenticeship in 1968 I went to work for a French company. All Metric, so learn a new system. After 4 years, back to working for an English company, so, back to Imperial again. I can still flip between either system in my head and convert either way just by instinct. Yet the Marine enviroment worldwide still measure water depth in Fathoms where 1 Fathom = 6 feet. If you want really confusing, look at the American system, where, a Gallon is 3.785 litres, a quart is 0.946 of a litre, a pint is 0.473. Yet their currency is metric based. And who the heck can explain the logic of measuring a Horse using 'Hand' where One Hand is 10.16 centimeters or 4 inches?
