you can buy a aftermarket Fuel Tank Gromet for the Echo PB-300E from the older type as they use the same fuel tank grommet and that carburetor would be worth cleaning/rebuilding and yes you can get fuel lines and a fuel filter by Tygon or Tygothane as they are the same brand and if that motor as good compression it,s worth fixing and i could get that good old unit going a in couple of minutes

first off, that's a cool old trimmer, and a good diagnose. My suggestion(because of age) is to perform a compression test, if you get 90lbs or better, may be worth saving, otherwise invest minimal and resale to get back your investment. I have picked up various yard finds trimmers and mowers, invested minimum and donated them to public schools that need equipment. Just for the enjoyment of getting them to work again.

I would remove the muffler and inspect the piston, cylinder, and rings. Then I would remove the recoil spring and clean the rust from it and lube it. As for the grommet, either get a blank one and make your own hole or get a 2 hole grommet and block one hole. The rest you should have. Did you ever fix it?

I’ve been wrenching on all kinds and models of shindaiwas for around 22 years now so I know a thing or 2 about shindaiwas and I a love them except for the new units since echo bought shindaiwa out and cheapened that brand since owning that great company it is a crying shame but yes a t25 pull cord unit will fit this model you can buy it on eBay for around 30 to 40 dollars not sure the exact price

Yes that unit is totally savable the engine parts are very common the fuel tank is I believe still made and I own a green machine backpack blower the secret is you got to know eBay for some of the parts like maybe the drive shaft or the hub on the front but as for the engine that company is three manufacturers for motors they used homelite for the really cheap ones and that was the early days and then they used zenoah and shindaiwa Andrew you have there looks to be a zenoah g2d judging by the shape of the cylinder and the ignition coil cylinder piston rings it's all readily available because my backpack blower has the same engine on it and I found that out earlier too so you should be okay the air filter box is easy to get that carburetor is so cheap that it's probably better just to get a new one I think they run like 10 or 12 bucks almost the price of a kit but totally worth saving

That unit appears to have provided good use at one time so is a good candidate for a test of skills; probably not cost effective. I have one from the mid-70's; like new. Like new because it never worked properly right out of the box; scammed by the dealer. Very costly lesson; was almost $300; top price back then. Was never able to find parts for mine. That grommet looks like something you can find usable at the auto store HELP! display.

I found a green machine backpack blower and the thing is amazing. Would this be worth it? To me, yes it would, but you would never be able to sell it for a good price because a normal homeowner doesn’t know how great these things are. In my experience some minor thing will eventually brake within the first month and by the end of the rebuild you will have a great product which cost you 60 bucks to fix.

There's plenty of places where you can buy universal rubber grommets for the tank. I have a green machine 2810 that I replaced grommets on using this site: rubberpartscatalog.com/home/products/rubber-grommets/military-grommets/AN931

Just picked up one of these at a garage sale for CHEAP and it fired right up. The throttle lever is broken and plan on replacing it with something more durable (22411-14320 Shindaiwa) as it seems the old slid carburetor requires quite a bit of force to compress the throttle valve spring. Short video of it running on my Instagram@ (trip_zeros)
