Is the vintage Harley Davidson 1952 Model K the father of the iconic Harley-Davidson Sportster line of motorcycles?
Fully restored 1952 Model K motorcycle that has a meaningful back story for this father & son team. Originally bought to be restored as a gift for his son. Twenty years in the making to restore it to its present, pristine condition.

I think those K models are the best looking bikes Harley made. I wish Harley would bring back that style.

awesome story! my son and i rebuilt a honda xr75 when he was like 7 or 8 yrs old.. id wake up 6 in the morning and he would be out in the shop working on his bike. he rode it till he outgrew it. he is now a mechanical engineer.

What a great video Sean. Just amazing story with you and your son. The bike’s difficult story is so emblematic of your family’s struggles dealing with the illness of your son. Now is a time of reflection and just being proud of what you have accomplished together on multiple fronts. Congratulations.

Very nice-looking K model. Looks like you did a thorough and detailed restoration. It's a joy to look at the bike. Probably enjoyable to ride it and think about how that bike was really special when introduced back in 1952. I'm restoring a 1972 Sportster. Good luck with the bike.

I've always liked the K models !!! I'm a Sportster guy my first was a 74 XLH Then a 57 XLCH then a 73 XLCH & another 74 XLCH now a 2006 XLC 1200

That`s a really sweet bike with a story to match. Thank you for sharing. When I was young my best friends dad was a science teacher at my junior high & he rode a K-model to school every day back in the early 70`s. Thanks for bringing that memory back to me. Good times!

I have seen this motorcycle in person at the annual Ironhead Rendezvous at Mostly Ironheads, Elora. It is an excellent example of a first year K model!

I remember in the very late nineties watching a guy race a K model at a vintage flat track race. The announcer claimed that he had been racing that bike since it was new.

Hi boys I Just wanted to mention that there is a K model that was used in a movie that is now going on sale starting at $250,000 and thats quite a lot compared to what I would have to assume they were new.

HD wanted an updated sport scout But it became a 648 big base with incorporated 4 speed trans and primary. Much smaller magneto/ distributor. The kr motor sounds almost identical to a 648 indian. Cams were the trick. The 648 was a fully developed engine that harley copied. The suspension and brakes took years to work out. Disc brakes and decent front forks Finally in the 70s

Oh my God, where at in Central or Eastern Canada is this? I see the NFLD and Labrador license plates on the wall but i'm also getting Ontario vibes haha! Can you put me in touch with these fine gentlemen? I'm from Cape Breton, and I would love to see this bike someday and chat Sportsters and Harleys in general!

Anyone know what Tim Robbins rode in the movie IQ? Was it a K or a KH? I owned a 1973 XLCH as my first Harley. Had a few problems, but I loved that Bike and was sorry when I sold it. Great video. I'm sure Jay Leno would enjoy talking to you guys. Kudos!

Not seen the movie yet but I'll find it.. My 1st harley was a 72 xlch1000..I regret selling it as well but it funded a shovelhead chopper. Can't keep em all but we can come close !

The k model was the great aunt of the hindenburgh and the uncle of the electric bass guitar and the next door neighbor's grandpa of the riding mower. jesus!
