I recently found out opal can colonize other minerals through fissures. I have a piece of jasper that showed some opalized flecks, so I checked it out. When stones get fissures it's called brecciated. Really cool ring! ❤

9:50 When you see initials on an old piece like that, the middle initial is the surname, left is the first name, and right is the middle name. So nowadays, that person's initials would be written as BGB. Pretty ring.

Hi Thelma! I love watching your videos. I love jewelry but due to my job as a corrections officer I don't really have the opportunity to wear it much. I always say I'm going to be fancy in my next life. i watch some of the opal hunters on youtube, and they shine a blacklight on it to expose it in the rocks and also on loose stones in hand. blacklight on opal makes the colors glow. just wanted to share since you were thinking that one cuff bracelet had an opal on it.

You’re right Thelma. Lapis has gold flecks. Sodalite does not. They can be very similar but the gold flecks are the giveaway.

@ThelmaThrift Opals love water. The more you wear them and get them wet, the more vivid the color. Also, soak them in mineral oil whenever you are not wearing them.
