Vintage Lego 6399 Airport Shuttle Monorail Train classic set from 1990. 730 pieces and 9 minifigures. Love these monorail sets. This is the most valuable of the 3 monorail train sets that Lego made. The other 2 trains were both Space Themed sets. There were also 2 track accessory sets made.

I got this set for Christmas back in the 90’s. I’m now in my 30’s with kids. I went back to my parents house to get it so my kids can play with it. They gave it away for free a couple of years ago. Now I have to spend almost $1000 on eBay to get one. Best Lego set ever created!!!

Hallo from Italy!! I also wanted this set when I was a child, but it was too expensive and large for a flat. But 6 months ago, in genuary 2015, I got my chance; I found a guy that sold me it for 350 € ...I tought "for this set, 350 € is cheap, but I should save money"...but like a real lego-maniac, I give up, and I bought it!! have been very very lucky to find it, and now I own it, after 15 years. now I am near to complete my own 90's town. It's not only a unique set (because it's the only monorail set in every town collections ever made), but it is also very particular and detailed. In my opinion...top-set of lego sets!!

I bought this set with my own money when I was a kid back in the early 90's. It was $200 CAD at Toy r Us. I remember it fondly. I still have the set (most of it) and my kids now play with the pieces.

I think my wallet is going to regret me getting the Accessory Track set now. These sets were just brilliant. Really nice seeing it set up. I'll definitely agree with you on these being among the coolest sets LEGO have released.

I've always wanted to have this set, but at the time my parents didn't have a chance to buy such a toy. Nevertheless I think, that monorail is somehow better than a train set, in a sense, that it's unique, it doesn't use the simple O-shaped railway, has two stations and moves at different heights.

I couldn't afford these when they were in the stores back then. I really like them too and wish they had made more. If they were to re-release them I think it would be more popular than the originals

I read on a blog that one guy got this as a Christmas present when he was a boy. He kept the set and took great care of it. Later when he grow up and went to college, his mom sold it in a garage sale for about $30. He came back and got very disappointed. He went on ebay and bricklink to purchase one but couldn't because they were very expensive. I like this set. Never had it nor do I want it but out of curiosity, I went on bricklink and ebay and the cheapest I could find is $550!!!!! You can find, for example, an old pirate ship for $90, 150 or sometimes $1,500. But this set, I never found one below $550 poor guy

I was able to get it a few years back at a good price. It is definitely one of the higher demand sets and does indeed usually go for a high price.

BrickTsar Sweet..Lucky you =D It does happen. I got my Red Beard Runner (6290) for $60. I never thought I'd find one this low and it's quality is like new. We get lucky sometimes. My seller just didn't know how valuable Lego toys are

BrickTsar BTW, I am planning to build a custom version of this set. I'll get the instructions for building the terminal, street and restaurant. I'll get a train from another set and build a track similar to this set. I'll see how it goes :P

LionBricks Neither. It's a standard 9v battery. Not a 1.5v battery. There is only 1 style of 9v battery commonly used. The battery is rectangular in shape - not a cylinder

It wasn't by choice. They contracted out the design and manufacture of the tracks to a company that went bankrupt; the tooling was lost, so rather than backwards engineer they just stopped making them.
