As a child I had two jacket's I wore that alway's stick's out in my memories of that time period ( 1967-74-ish ) One was the old Goodyear racing jacket, usually a blue jacket, w/white twin rail stripe down one side of the front & the other was the same jacket, just with the colors flip-flopped, my jacket was the blue one. My absolute favorite jacket was my 43 Richard Petty/STP jacket Pop gave me for Christmas in 72! I wore that jacket until I flat out grew it, absolutely LOVED IT! 😎👍 Another great video by Petty, keep making them & this old staunch Petty Fan will keep watching! 💪🤠

It's amazing that they were able to keep all of these in mint condition for 50, 60, 70 years. It's hard to put a monatary value on them but I would treasure any one of them.

Great stuff! Hard to pick a favorite, but I have always liked the Direct Connection logo, and that AMC jacket was dang nice, too!

I remember Smokey Yunick talking about that first Southern 500... Because they were going through so many tires, some of the teams ended up having to go through the infield and "borrow" tires off of race fans' vehicles just to make it to the finish. And Bud Moore - who wasn't a car owner at that point, but was a mechanic on a two-car team, said that between the two cars they might've changed 75 tires that day -- all with a four-way lugwrench, mind you. Johnny Mantz had raced at Indy, which gave him an advantage when it came to running a long race, because most stock car races weren't more than about 100 miles at that time. And depending on the story, he used either Indy car tires or truck tires. In 1950 there was no such thing as racing tires for stock cars. So while Fireball Roberts and Curtis Turner and them would run like Jack the Bear for a few laps, only to blow another tire and had to spark back to the pits on three wheels, Mantz and the little Plymouth were tooling around, logging laps, and eventually won the race.

My Dad had some of those puffy jackets from when he worked at a Lincoln Mercury dealership in the 80's and 90's. They were perfect for the cold Upstate New York winters. I had a couple of his jackets, and boy were they warm! I'd love to get my hands on one of those from the Chrysler years

I have the newest white Winston Cup jacket I purchased at Daytona Speedweeks 1976. On the way home from the 1975 Southern 500 my parents and I stopped at Petty Enterprises and saw the car that Richard finished 2nd the day before. The car had some body damage. We went inside and we met Elizabeth Petty. I was asking her about Jackets and she showed me the Blue Jacket with the wrench 42, 43 on the sleeve and the Petty Enterprises and the patch Lee Richard and Maurice. That jacket and my Blue Union 76 jacket identical to the ones the drivers wore all my favorites I got this jacket at Daytona in 1971.. All your episodes I learn something about the Petty Family. Would like to see Dale on a future show.

That airbrushed Plymouth "Hemi" t shirt laying behind Richie i believe was from Daytona 1964. I've seen color video of that race from the Richard Petty pits & some (over the wall) crew members were wearing those t's. AWESOME COOL to have airbrushed in 1964 ! Maybe you guys can find the Petty Blue leather boots "Leeboy" was wearing about that time. What i'd give for a pair of those !

Thank you for the cool trip down memory lane with the jackets You reference buddy Baker and the number 11 car. Do you know why they ran the number 11 in 71 as opposed to running the number 40 which is what they ran in 1970. First off it would seem they want to stay with a 40 series number and second I have no idea what the 11 could’ve stood for. If I remember correctly, there were no dodgers driving the number 11 in the previous year. I was just wondering.😮
