Please don't replace any vintage capacitor or resistors only by seeing its age and without any proper technical reason. They are standardized for very high quality operations, in terms of noise factors, heat dissipation, phase shift and as well as stability. **Modern cheap Chinese Capacitor or Resistors, available in Indian mass market cannot meet the original specification and quality standards. I am not at all in favour to replacement vintage components only seeing their age and without sign of proper technical failure and somehow repair the instrument. I have already serviced many internationally Famous Hi END Audio Equipments and Radio / Tuner Recivers with Valve or Transistor topology and successfully restored those units to the original specification. I know, an ongoing trends are growing among the service personnel, to replace vintage capacitors or resistors assuming it is bad because of its age, without testing it. I regret to say that most of the Indian service personnel are not properly trained to dealing with a vintage equipment and also they are under equipped. Most of them don't have a RF Signal Generator, a Frequency Counter, an Oscilloscope, a LCR Meter or a Distortion Analyser and even they don't know how to measure the ESR value of a capacitor, the impedance of a coil or transformer, or how to align a tuned circuit. There is also lack of knowledge about how to read the schematic and test the equipment accordingly and alignment of the equipment as per the instructions provided in the service manual.
