Here we have a list of Scalextric model cars from when plastic examples were first introduced early in 1960 after the tinplate versions were phased out. Scalextric issued each of the new plastic models with a "C" reference number, the first car, a Lotus 16, was issued with reference number 'C54'. This video shows all the cars produced from 1960 through to 1966 opening with the C54 Lotus and continuing on to the C86 Porsche excluding ref. C70 (See below). Also in there I've added towards the end are the Go-Karts (given the K1 ref) first introduced in 1963, others are the C6 Panther (1968), the C7 Mini (1968, although this model is a Type 3 - 1971), the C32 Merc (Spanish 1968) and the C34 Jag (1971). These lower ref numbers were allocated when Scalextric decided (unsure why?) to issue the next model after C99 with C1 rather than C100.
All cars in the video are from my own personal collection which I began in November 2017. Some were just shells when purchased and have been restored by myself using spare parts, most are totally original with their original parts. All the models on view are complete now and each have been well cared for with cleaned/serviced motors which are never raced,.. although a cruise round the test track now and again keeps them active, like walking the dog. These cars are very popular among collectors and can fetch anything from a tenner to a monkey depending on popularity.
These cars are not for sale.
(The C70 model is a 'type 59 Bugatti' which can be difficult to find hence why it doesn't appear in the video. Should you ever come across one leave a comment below (scroll down) and I'll get back to you.)
