I got to run a couple of those old 28s when I started in the 90s. 800 is the pump kit size. This is before wireless remote and proportional controls. These had what was known as black and white boom controls, they are off or on. So you would tap the down and hold the up functions to balance the speeds. Was a lot of fun back in the day. The gate valve is a mean mother for sure but pumps just like a rock valve to me. This is so cool to see brings back memories of the old days for sure. Thanks for showing us!

I used to run one of these back in the day also, except we had an 801/28. I don’t know what the difference was, I was at the show and looked at it and it looks similar. Does anybody know the difference between an 800 and 801?

This boom was owned by Mardian Equipment in Arizona FYI - thanks for the video!

I’d seen recently they’d posted before and after photos to one of the social media platforms (can’t remember which one specifically). It was amazingly clean even prior to the restoration. This thing was the star of the show for me!

@@canadianconcretepumper1979 agree - made me smile from ear to ear seeing that - especially knowing I can bring a working 80’s line pump to our booth one year…will make it happen, I promise!

We used to have a few of those same exact ones, my father and grandfather ran some and my father was on one everyday for 6 months straight pumping all of the concrete for our city’s baseball stadium the Cleveland Indians. Along with some of the old Whiteman booms which were even before those schwing booms.

I was taught on a Schwing 801 Gate Valve Cab Over similar to this unit.Hard wire remote. You stood on the machine in those days. They are so heavy on the rear axle you have to grab the bottom of steering wheel while driving over bumpy roads to keep your head from hitting the ceiling!.They will basically pump a 2000 psi mix with ease. Do not let this hopper run low or empty because it will blast concrete out of the hopper faster and further than any style Rock Valve or S-Tube. Looking back...All outriggers are manual push/pull/extend/and the outriggers are pin style height adjustable. EPA would hate them in this day and age due to the oil pots needing to be cleaned and topped off daily.Brings back memories seeing this restored machine.

International fleet star those and load stars were everywhere years ago they came with many different engines and trannys Thompson pumps used them as did schwing. Thompson was later bought out by putzmeister

I started on a 85 28 meter 1200. I still do not miss those manual pull out outriggers. But it was cool to run on that old black n white hydraulics. Lol

The 800 was in reference to the gates at back both were 8” top and discharge. An 801 had 8” top and 7” discharge.

I used to operate an 801/28, looks identical. It even had the 3208 cat. That engine ran forever, but couldn’t get out of its own way when going up the mountains of Pennsylvania. Great content scott, keep up the great work
