As an owner of a BA and SBA, it pains me to admit how awesome that Mark VI sounds.

Interesting comparison play test. To me, BA = feminine vintage, sweet; SBA = more masculine vintage, touch more projection; MVI = usual more modern feeling sound, totally different, never my thing compared to the BA and SBA's. Prices on BA's and SBA's have really diverged!

Love the sound of the last beautiful. However, may I ask what it is that you really like about it?

BA or SBA for me. Love the lightness and sweetness of the BA, SBA is a bit deeper and just as lovely. MK6 also great but a bit too boxy for my taste. I’ve got a BA alto 22xxx and an SBA tenor 49xxx and love them both. Had a few 6s but not my thing. Maybe I never played the right one.

They're both good with their own personalities but personally I love the Mk6 as I feel it has a richer in depth fuller sound and warmer compared to the B.A. which sounds too thin, but both good. Thank J.L. as I couldn't decide but I had already bought a Mk6 alto a 1955 in silver in mint condition like a museum piece, I just had it a complete fully overhaul by Steve Crow in north England with pisoni pads and royal blue felts to match my Silver 1957 Mk6 tenor in mint condition as this was completely overhauled by Steve also. J.L. please do a test between Silver and gold lacquer would be very interesting. Thank you in advance... 🙏 Sweet Juju
