I would like to thank my friend who shared that tool chest with me. Of the tools in this chest, I restored what I needed most these days. Another beautiful restoration. At first I didn't even understand what this tool was for. First thought of one from the forging era, such a divider for iron straps, etc. but far from it when I saw that this material could be much too soft for it. So I think this is probably a soldering iron.

A beautiful piece resurrected from the dead. I have never seen that method of hot bluing before. It’s usually heat the metal up and dunk it in oil for 24 hrs. However in this case it was the best method as the copper head was still attached. I’ll have to remember that method for my future work.

This one had me laughing out loud. 😂 Great idea, and a refreshing approach to these videos. The look of the store clerk's eyes at 2:07 🤣 hahaha. On the restoration, I would say it looks as though you have truely mastered the art of hot bluing, beautifully done by friend. It may have been a bit better to remove the copper iron from the steel handle letting you get some better angles on both, then recombine them at the end, but it turned out looking pretty good. Great video as always my friend, until next time. 👌😁

Great Restoration , but if you want to put the tin coating on the edge/tip of the soldering copper, you need to rub the HOT end on a block of ammonium chloride with a small piece of solder laying on it.... but try not to breathe the FUMES... they are unhealthy. I have also read you can do the same with powdered rosin and a brick. Also..the trade name for the A C is Sal-Amoniac... Just a tip from an old tin smith..
