I love the man. He’s making his best music in his 70s. Amazing. I think he was around 27 when he made Oxygene (my favourite album of all time), and he is now capable of making far more complex and sophisticated music - that does not mean better, it just means what it means - and he’s amazing.

Jean Michel Jarre was one of the Godfathers of Electronic Popular Music. He was inspired by the 1968 Pink Floyd Album "A Saucefulful of Secret" especially the Song Celestial Voices. The other Guys were People like Edgar Froese in Berlin, wo was living as Guest of Salvador Dali in Summer 1968 and was inspired by that second Pink Floyd Album to found the Band Tangerine Dream. Even in that Time the Düsseldorf located Band was founded in 1970 and in that year they performed the first live show in german Television and presenting the First Time Music which was two decades later named Techno. The Father of Jean Michel was Maurice Jarre - he made the Soundtrack of famous movies like "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Death Poets Society". The first Album of JMJ was "Oxygene" the first Vinyl pressed Music with Polyphonic Sythesizers like Poly Moog in that Awesome Era of analogue and nondigital Synthesizers between the 68/70ies Experimental and Krautrock Music and the Postpunk/New Wave Era with Pre Techno Bands like DAF and Front 242. The Digital Sampler and MIDI Interface was introduced seven years later in 1984. Making electronic then became a trivial bullshit rubbish like Modern Talking etc. In 1986 the last Album of Kraftwerk with the later MTV Single "Techno Pop".... What is stunning in that monumental Music of JMJ are his concert. I joined his Concert in July 1990 in Paris La Defense. A Concert four times bigger than Woodstock and after his 2004 Concert in Moscow the worlds largest open air in history of mankind. If was standing 200 Meters awas from the Stage of the Musicians. On the Avenue Charles de Gaulle there were standing two Million People behind me. This is one of the videos: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q9N-g6-Bx7rHcWw.html&start_radio=1

I’ve seen him 4times at various gigs, every time, it’s breathtaking to see and hear his creations. But I like the most his early works, my most favourite album is Eqinoxe, he made this album in his small kitchen in 8months, a true genius at work. Love to see him again perform at outdoor stadiums again, The Chronology Tour was very very good

Fantastic video, amazing to see into the studio of my musical hero. Oxygene was my childhood album (I'm a 90's born 00's kid). Also I hate that the UK still uses inches/feet a lot (it's how most people express their height) and we still use miles per hour but as an engineering student I only ever deal with metric and SI units so I'm used to the metric system
@minimerceloki8 жыл бұрын
the best system.
@Autogenification8 жыл бұрын
L. absolutely man, wish the whole world conformed to using it, life would be so much easier and it makes far more sense. All metric units are formed on universal constants (apart from kilograms which is soon to be or maybe is now)
@Autogenification8 жыл бұрын
Benny Heflinger if every inventor/scientist/engineer/etc. used whatever standard they felt like, we would have no progression in in technology. We'd be making too many mistakes converting from different forms and it just wastes time. The metric system works because it's based on the universe; the imperial system is based on non-constant references which is quite dangerous in the long term of technical progression. Fair enough if your relatives accomplished a lot using imperial systems but that was the system at the time and it's not as effective as the metric system and SI units today. Also the GPS system, MRI machines and Mars Rover all use SI units and the metric system. If you don't believe me, research it further yourself. There's a reason all STEM degrees use SI units and that's because it makes more sense than using the imperial system, it's a stable and constant form of measuring. Do some research on the metric system and SI units, then tell me that we shouldn't conform to the metric system. There is no use hanging back in time with the imperial system and it's this sort of thinking that keeps us from "move forward" as you put it I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to use the imperial system, you were probably brought up in it, and that's fine, you can use it all you want. But in the future the imperial system will pass away as the obsolete and defunct measurement system that it is.
