Little Restorers

10 ай бұрын

In this video, we undertook the challenging task of restoring a severely rusted Triang brand Tricycle for a friend's daughter as a special birthday surprise. With just one week on our hands, we embarked on a race against time to ensure it was ready in time for the celebration.
Degassing :
Degassing ensures that any moisture or contaminants that could cause outgassing are removed prior to powder coating.
Outgassing is caused by entrapped gases being released during the curing process, which can create pinholes in the coating. This can lead to moisture or corrosive materials penetrating the coating and causing it to fail.
Phosphating :
Phosphating is the process of converting a steel surface to iron phosphate.
Iron Phosphate provides increased adhesion for the powder coating. It increases corrosion resistance by providing a secondary protective layer. Phosphate conversion adds to the lifetime of the treated part.
Powder Coating :
Powder coating is a dry coating process used as a metal finish mostly on industrial equipment. It is applied as dry powder through an electrostatic process, then cured with heat. It is well known for providing high-quality finishes in terms of both durability and overall look.

The best restoration yet mate. Fantastic seeing the helpers/hinders working with you. Your training is paying off. The brazing is a new skill I can’t remember seeing before. Although you really need that lathe buddy. Bushings are so easy to recreate. Too bad we don’t live closer.

OMG so much adhesive on those rims....feel sorry for the next person that restores it in 50 years....good job.
@LittleRestorers
@LittleRestorers 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. The old rubbers have a groove that sits inside the rims.They also have a steel wire inside. The neo cord is round, so most of the adhesive is actually filling the space between the rim and the rubber. 😉
