Despite the wheel arrangement, that is probably what a New Haven GG1 would have looked like if they had gotten one.

Tyco would have done better if they a New Haven EP 5 with that wheel arrangement, the GG1 wasn't used on New Haven tracks until Penn-central took over in 1969

Sometimes I wonder if in addition to cutting costs it also makes it easier for a child to put the locomotive on the tracks. Especially if a train set did not come with any strait tracks.

I Always thought that Tyco should have made the P5 (Boxcab) and the P5a (Mini GG-1) 4-6-4 electric locomotives because their Powertorque drive had six wheels driven. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N. P.S. GG-1 fans check out the P5a.

The New Haven never had GG1’s of their own. EP5’s Yes, But GG1’s no.

So the CC1 (yes this is what I call these GG1’s from Tyco with C-Trucks) can’t pull it’s consist, but the 0-4-0 can do it and drag that lazy ass GG1 as well. Tyco should’ve used magnetic wheels. But they couldn’t because Lionel patented MAGNE-TRACTION.
