I play a Magic the Gathering Online Vintage league with RUG Xerox Oath. Subscriber Oliver wanted to see some Vintage Oath of Druids on the channel. This list has posted 2 5-0's recently in the capable hands of MTGO user and friend of the channel MDA11. What MDA11 has done is cleverly slip an Oath package into RUG Xerox, the best control deck in Vintage. Oath is weak against combo, Xerox crushes combo. Xerox is weak to shops and the mirror can be tough, Oath crushes Shops and Xerox. I love a good pivot, let's see if we can live up to the master's trophy legacy.
*Sincere apologies for any weird audio things that happen in this video. I was calibrating a new mic that just did not want to cooperate with my setup. I believe the issue is now resolved, but several videos were affected. Small channel growing pains, thanks for understanding!*

It's super cool how Wren + Gaea's Blessing means milling out is never a concern.

I love it when decks have some sort of ‘infinite library’ that way :p

Was laughing my as of around 1 hour into the game. You had the third game against Vengevine and was looking at the hand and we both said the exact same things about the hands you were mulling/keeping, in the same tone. Loving the game play, like the deck. I'm a big Oath fan.

It's usually completely unnecessary, but if you have Wrenn emblem you can just retrace Gaea's Blessing, so it doesn't really matter how many cards you have left in deck if you have the emblem.

I think you explained it in the video but I'm having a hard time understanding it as audio rather than text: Why run out Oko at 1:13:40 instead of Mox Ruby then Abrade on their turn? I don't know the archetype your opponent is on super well, but it seems like establishing your mana is really valuable, and Daze is a thing you have to play around.

I was just tunnel visioned. I committed to Oko in my head before I drew Ruby for turn. I think Ruby + Abrade is a better play.

25:30 why isn't oracle in your opponent's deck? Seems like a cleaner win.

Oracle adds an extra card that's dead outside the combo turn. In the opponent's build, Brain Freeze is their only "dead" card, since Ancestral and Mentor are both wincons that are good in other gamestates.

You cannot cast Grisselbrand with Black Lotus. He has 4 black mana.

Yes I figured that out 30 seconds later when I couldn't cast Griselbrand.

One thing about the hollow ones in R2: Oko can steal them by giving your opponent a food token. Not always the best use of Oko, but it is an option.

At 25:47, why did he pyro his own BF? im guessing it has something to do with getting the 9th card in his GY so he can breach a 3rd card, but if he is planning on ancestral'ing you to death couldn't he just save the pyro for one of your counters? if you counter ancestral then he counters your counter, if not then he doesnt need the extra cards in GY? dont think it has to do with getting extra storm either, theres 13 BF's (39 cards) and you had 31 cards in library

If he doesn’t play BF in response to gaeias blessing trigger he cannot mill him out because the blessing will continuously trigger

why do you make videos about playing other people's deck without practicing first? isnt the point to show people how to properly drive the deck?

The point is to explore Magic and get better. Most people learn from mistakes as well as successes. Watching me punt games into the ground is still a learning experience. And I release a video every day. 100% of my Magic time is spent recording for the channel. Practicing every (or any) deck I get sent is impossible. Is what it is.
